Question: how many pounds can it pick up?
Answer: Right now, not much. It does have a wide grabber area. It would probably work well for jars and things. I need to use it mainly to pick up things that I dropped. Like paper so I don't have to bend over to get it and until I glue some type of foam on the end, it's not very good at it. -
Question: does this come with a clip to attach it to a walker?
Answer: No it does not. Handle has a round hole maybe you could attach a clip to it. Very handy tool. -
Question: Can I buy replacements for the gold plastic piece at the pick-up end? I ordered 3 of these and all three plastic pieces are gone.
Answer: I cut a piece of wood the same size and shape of the plastic piece and hold it in place with rubber bands... the last pick-up I ordered didn't even close all the way! it wouldn't pick up the morning newspaper.. their quality is very bad.. I have been ordering these for years and the last two shipments have been defective. r luri -
Question: It says pull for folding or rotate, how does it rotate?
Answer: Pulling the grabber apart allows the user to either fold for storage, or you can turn the claw end clockwise or counterclockwise to reposition the direction of the claw. So you’d pull, rotate end piece left or right, then reconnect grabber. Question: How would this be for smaller sticks and twigs around the yard?
Answer: I'm sure it would pick up twigs and smaller sticks in the yard very well. I used it in my apartment to pick up small pieces of paper that fell on the floor when I had my arm in a sling, so I would think it could grab hold of sticks and twigs. I still use it to get things off of higher shelves and then put them back. A worthwhile device to have. -
Question: Is this lightweight and easy to use for arthritic hands?
Answer: Yes, it is the lightest I have found. Folding makes it easy to carry for grocery shopping. The hand grip works great for my osteoarthritic hands. The magnetic tip can be very useful. A warning tip - when putting a letter in the drive thru mail box it stuck to the box and I had to exit the car to unstick it (very strong magnet). -
Question: Will it fit in purse?
Answer: It would need to be a good size purse. It would be about 16 in folded and does not close tight -
Question: what is the small post on the end of the reacher for?
Answer: The one pictured isn't like mine. Mine has what appears as a screw where the pictured one has a black post that sticks up where mine has a screw that only sticks up a tiny bit. Screw may be what holds the rubber gripper and magnet in place. When one folds the reacher, the end folds back onto the top where there is a yellow H shaped plastic piece that holds the folded arm in place so it doesn't twist out of shape. Hope this helps. -
Question: What is the maximum weight it is able to successfully grab and lift . . . e.g. TV remote control, can of corn, half gallon of milk . . . ?
Answer: i have tried to pick up some pretty heavy things...perhaps not so heavy as a half gallon of milk,...and found that the limiting factor was not the grabber but the torque it placed on my right arm; as Archimedes said, give me a lever long enough and a place got stand on and i can destroy my rotator cuff ... i just easily lifted a sack with 2 lbs of cherries, but needed to provide support from my left hand under the long piece, or else the pressure on my shoulder would have been very unpleasant
