    Customer Questions & Answers

    • Question: Is this a rectal thermometer?

Answer: I use it as a rectal thermometer in veterinary school. It is also a brand used in 2 veterinary hospitals I worked at prior to veterinary school.
    • Question: How do you switch from F to Celsius?

Answer: push button 2X. Not fast. At 2nd time hold button down Then hold for 2 Sec. and F and C show, and can change to F to C then.
    • Question: Someone said this is about the size of a human thermometer. What's the difference other than human thermometers are much cheaper?

Answer: Yes, it is the same size, however you are able to read the temp in about 10 seconds. This is much quicker than the human version.
    • Question: does it read in celsius?

Answer: Hi Mauricio, Yes the 422 does read in Fahrenheit and Celsius. All the best, Ron at prdmed
    • Question: Very upset with this sender and company. Should have read the reviews. Just recieved the cover. No thermometer.

Answer: I am sorry to hear that you did not receive the complete item you had ordered. If possible, can you provide more information on the seller so we can look into this further? Also, we would be more than happy to send you a replacement right away. Please contact our customer service department at your earliest convenience using reference number AM203. Maria can be reached toll free at 1-800-ADC-2670 or via email at [email protected]. Again, I apologize for this inconvenience but we will make it right
    • Question: Does it work when it's cold outside? My current one error's when the ambient temp isn't at least 70°F

Answer: Not really sure. I live in Arizona and haven't used it in the cold yet.
    • Question: It seems almost 1 degree off that my other one, does it need a calibration or is defective?

Answer: I was told to always use the same thermometer or scale by my vet. Each can be calibrated a little different, that doesn't mean it is wrong. If you consistently get the same temps using the same thermometer, then it isn't defective.
    • Question: Right out of of the box, new thermometer is indicating low battery. bought a $5 battery. how do i take the thermometer apart?

Answer: HI Texas Gal, here are the instructions off of the manufacturers ADC website: Changing the battery: 1. When the battery flag appears and blinks, it means the battery needs replacement. 2. Turn thermometer over, with label side facing up. Pull off cover (Fig. 1). 3. Remove used battery with a pointed object (except sharp metal). (Fig. 2). 4. Replace with new battery (1.5V) with Cathode side (-) up. (Fig. 3). 5. Close cover securely. (Fig. 4). All the best Ron
    • Question: Does it beep when done?

Answer: Yes it does Daniel.I really liked this out of all the ones that I have.I hope this helps.I wouldn't want it to beep too loud as this might alarm my horse.
