Question: Why so many negative reviews?
Answer: I noticed that too. We have this exact thermometer and at first we really liked it and believed it was accurate. However, my daughter had a fever once and 2 other thermometers we had said 100.4 F and 100.6 F and the Vicks SpeedRead said 98.1 F. So, I don’t think it’s very accurate. Unreliable! -
Question: When it says low on it does this indicates the battery is low?
Answer: It's amazing how many people make this comment and it's not true. A little bit of reading or a simple search shows it's the air temp and not battery condition. Press at the On button. When the self-test is done in a couple seconds, display says "Lo." Stick it under your tongue and you bet a beep in 6-7 seconds with y9ur temp. -
Question: where is the vicks V912 thermometer manufactured?

Question: I used 3 & the others were .2 degrees apart, this read 1 degree higher. Does it read high?
Answer: If you are getting a reading that is a full 1 degree different from THREE others, I'd say return it. Get another brand. Can't tell if mine was high or low, mine was in the ballpark but a little inconsistent. Took my temperature 3 times in about 2 minutes. Got readings of 98.0, 97.7, 97.8, This is "close enough" but I'd expected better. FYI My temperature is always in the 97+ range so that is not the issue. -
Question: The color coding does not work. How do I get it to work? The video here doesn't show either....

Question: Is this the same as the Kinsa model? Does this work with the Kinsa app?
Answer: No. It's a plain digital read thermometer. No apps. -
Question: We can’t open the battery compartment to put a new battery in. Any suggestions?
Answer: Yes you need to work at it but it opens - had mine open to check for battery size. Probably part of water proofing ... -
Question: I have taken my temperature twice and i keep getting a reading of only 97.6 deg. f. why is it reading so low? can it be calibrated?
Answer: My normal temp for past few years has been 97.2. I found this helpful explanation about measurement differences on the body: "Although there is no one “normal” temperature reading, a temperature, taken orally, ranging between 97°F and 100°F is considered normal. A rectal temperature is generally 1° higher and an underarm (auxillary) temperature will be 1° lower." -
Question: you can get this entire thermometer wet, right--run it under hot water with soap between each wash?
Answer: Thank you for checking with us first. No, you cannot wash the whole thermometer, nor can you get the whole thing get wet. You can only wet and wash the tip and the front half of the stick.
