I am very happy with this product as it is wonderful quality. Now about goldenseal specifically: This is a traditional Native American and Ayurvedic medicine for many things. It is probably the best herbal antibiotic and can in many cases be used instead of pharmaceutical antibiotics. Unlike pharmaceuticals, this herb will not cause a dysbiosis or imbalance of the intestinal flora/bacteria or hyper intestinal permeability. It is one of the most cooling herbs, so it is great for people who have "hot" pitta-type constitutions and/or during times of intense heat such as the summer to maintain constitutional balance. It has been known (especially in my experience) to assist with heat-related skin conditions such as eczema. In a culture where many of us are consuming too much alcohol, meat and stimulating beverages, cooling elements like this can prove very useful. Just be careful using this herb in the winter or if you have an overly cold constitution as it is very bitter and can increase vata. Inflammation is sometimes caused by excess heat in the body, especially in the case of pancreatitis. Goldenseal acts directly upon the pancreas and mucous membranes. I did not receive any free or discounted product to write this review, I simply feel that people deserve to know that this is a good product and what it may be useful for.

Barely fails a weigh out test. Does do better than Natures Way "herb" & probably the same as their "root" product. I'll continue using if cost effective. Can't give it four stars for the -10% weigh out problem. Does smooth stools, also seems to being better for my athletes foot & thrush issues. (I got a prescription Rx for thrush using only NW-herb, 3x/day). Lot# 132682 Exp 01/18
