Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question: I have really heavy periods with lots of clotting. Wondering if this would work for me?
Answer: I have ridiculously heavy periods with lots of clotting. I used to use 2 super plus tampons at a time, plus a pad, and would bleed through in an hour. The cup works great for me. I often add a pad as backup on my heaviest days, but still, the cup holds more than 2 super plus tampons. On my heaviest days, I can wear a Softcup about 2 - 2 1/2 hours before leaking. Twice as long (or more) than tampons. -
Question: safe plastic?
Answer: It's not exactly plastic. According to the FAQ page of the Softcup website, "Softcup is made of inert, hypoallergenic, non absorbent, non-irritating polymeric material that has been used safely for more than 20 years in health care products such as catheters and baby bottle nipples." You may go to http://softcup.com/how/faqs for more pressing questions people may have about this, and feel free to check out the rest of their site. -
Question: Can this push on your bladder? It seemed much more comfortable after going to the bathroom.
Answer: Softcup should not create pressure on your bladder. You may just need to insert it a little differently. Next time you go to insert it, make sure you are pushing the edge that goes in first DOWN toward the floor so that it sits at an angle and fully covers the cervix. Then make sure the front edge (that goes in last!) is tucked above your pubic bone and pushed past it as far as it can go. You can also experiment with different positions to find what works and is most comfortable for you - many women prefer to insert Softcup with one foot on the tub. -
Question: Is this product Latex-free? I'm very allergic to latex
Answer: Softcup is not made with latex. :) -
Question: What if you have to pee while the softcup is in you?
Answer: You can pee with Softcup in. :) -
Question: Has anyone tried swimming with a Softcup? I'm a little nervous; it seems like it would leak pretty severely.
Answer: Hi no I've never tried swimming with them. That's a really great question, I believe that's something you would have to test out. Although on the side of the box it does list the things you can do with them, compared to tampons & pads. Can't Remember if swimming was one of the things though. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. -
Question: Is this easy to put in and take out?
Answer: it is super easy to put in. It is pretty easy to take out . It can get a little messy taking out so be prepared but overall no worse than a tampon. I highly recommend these! -
Question: What am I doing wrong? My first one started leaking after 2 hours. I tried to adjust the second one better. It leaked in 30 minutesminutes.
Answer: It really helps to look at a diagram of your vagina and cervix. All I can do is explain in my own words what the instructions were. 1. Take your thumb and index finger and close ring holding the center. 2. Make sure you are in the sitting position, toilet is easiest. 3. You're going to insert the cup so the bag is down. 4. Insert the cup while still holding closed ring, start pushing it BACK (not up) 5. You wont be able to keep the ring closed very far after inserting, once that happens, push the ring further back with one finger. 6. You will be able to tell when it's behind the pubic bone (you will feel a ridge that the tip of the ring is behind) 7. When it is behind the pubic bone, adjust it to where you can't feel it. That is one of the ways you know it's in place is you can't feel it anymore. 8. You don't need to push it very far after the pubic bone, but you may need to adjust it. You may be pushing it in too far. When I used it the first time, I got it past the pubic bone but when I stood up I could feel it 'slipping' and that isn't supposed to happen. I pushed it just a little bit further and tried to feel it with a finger which adjusted it into place. I don't know how to explain it but I knew when it was in place because I couldn't feel it inside of me anymore. Some people have different sizes and shapes of the cervix so just try working with it. It may be too big for you. I would talk with your OBGYN and see what they have to say about it. I wish you luck! I absolutely love the Soft Cup and I am very sad I haven't tried it sooner. -
Question: How do i remove it if i have acrylic nails it’s my first time trying it tonight & i thought about it after i inserted it. no rude comments :(
Answer: Yikes! That stinks. I don’t wear acrylics, so I’m not sure if you can take one off and then glue back on after? Regardless, you could try with a nail on, but just be very gentle so you don’t scratch your insides. Logistically, if you reach in with your middle finger, (your nail will be toward your back, and your finger pad toward your front) your finger should come between the stretchy plastic and the ring, then you will want to push against the ring toward your front and pull down. Unless your nails are very long, this should work fine, I think! My very best luck to you!
