- Homocysteine metabolism: Methyl B-12 is also required to metabolize homocysteine back to the essential amino acid L-methionine.

Customer Questions & Answers

Question: How many hours of energy does one lozenge give you?
Answer: It's not an instant energy supplement. Rather, by taking 1 or 2 a day on a regular basis you will notice a better sense of well being, better thinking, and generally better mood and energy for regular tasks. I usually notice I feel better in a day or 2, sometimes the same day. It's not at all like getting a kick from a cup of coffee. However, it's one of the supplements I take that I feel better when I take it, and notice when I don't. Btw... B12 is depleted by caffeine and stimulant medications such as adderall, and I think I've heard SSRIs as well. Also, I agree with Don Bakers comments... Choose methyl-cobalamin instead of cyano-cobalamin for the reason he stated. -
Question: Ingredient list? please.
Answer: I just called the company, (310) 204-6936. I asked where this product is manufactured......the INGREDIENTS ARE FROM CHINA But it’s manufactured in California! -
Question: How does this product differ from others? Like a standard B12 Complex and Methyl-B12?
Answer: Hopefully I understand your question. If you are asking how Methyl B12 differs from a regular B12 complex, let me first say that research on the subject is fairly new. One selling point for me is that the regular B12 complexes you buy on grocery and drug store shelves are made with cyancobalamin (probably didn't spell that correctly), but the "cyan" in that word is for cyanide. Hopefully, not enough to hurt you, but enough to cause your immune system to sit up and take notice. That " boost" of energy that many people say they feel after an injection of B12 is actually their immune system reacting to the cyanide, not some "feel good" reaction to the B12 shot. That was a surprise to me. And it felt a little like "trickery." Then to realize that virtually all food products that add vitamins use cyanacobalamin, not methyl B12. The discovery that folate is necessary for the absorption of B12 into the body is, I think, fairly recent. In other words, you can take all the B12 in the world, but it is worthless if it just goes out the other end. So methyl folate should be taken along with methyl B12 to guarantee absorption. My understanding is that the whole "methyl" deal is a result of early findings of the Human Genome Project and the Project's continuing search for genetic links to illness; the goal being to treat the illness, rather than the symptom. And the sad fact is that medical science is still at a loss as to what actually. "causes" most illnesses--especially autoimmune disorders. I am not a doctor or medical researcher, and so I am far from understanding all the facts...and either whether the few facts I do know are reliable. I do know that genetic marker MTHFR came from the Human Genome research, and indicates a person's predisposition for many physical and mental illnesses. Treatment involves B12, folate, and other B vitamins, as well as vitamin C. If you Google MTHFR, you will be able to look at or listen to some of research for yourself. I picked Jarrow only because the medical expert I heard speak about MTHFR mentioned Jarrow as a quality pharmaceutical lab, but added that there are many others. Finding sublingual B12 is not always easy, so I stick with Jarrow. I hope my answer was a little clearer than mud. Like I said, it is complicated. -
Question: I'm a little confused after reading some of the comments. Does this also have folic acid or do I need to take an additional supplement for that?
Answer: This is Not Folic Acid..that said, Folic Acid is synthetic , get Folate its it NOT Synthetic . Many people get sick taking folic acid, but not Folate, and yes it is more money, but Worth it. -
Question: Anyone concerned this contains Xylitol?
Answer: Diarrhea is one of the possible side effects of Xylitol. I am one of the unlucky people that has that problem.. So yes, it's a concern for me. -
Question: Does this help for unhealthy, very fine hair?
Answer: It can help strengthen and condition your hair, but I don't know if it will help it grow. I take Biotin for my hair. It will help it grow for sure. -
Question: How long does this take to fully dissolve under your tongue?
Answer: I take 3 at a time (doctor recommendation for me), so it takes 20-30min to fully dissolve. -
Question: Is this sugar free, including the flavoring?
Answer: The label does not state it but I believe it is. It has a naturally sweet lemon flavor. I am diabetic and I have never found it to affect my sugar count. SMC -
Question: Does it contain msg? says "natural flavors" code word msg.
Answer: Pretty sure it doesn't. Suspect the "natural flavor" refers to the fruity taste of the pill (which is not bad, btw)...
