Answer: The Suntheanine in the pills is sourced from Asia. You may verify this by calling Pure Encapsulations directly at 800-532-2771. You must press them specifically on the origin of the Suntheanine not merely ask "where is it made". It is manufactured by or under license from Taiyo International. This truth calls in to question Pure Encapsulations' claim of "full label transparency". There is good reason to be concerned about the safety of food and unbranded supplement ingredients from China. There should be no concern about the purity of the branded Suntheanine ingredient. The questions remain however: Why should you pay so much more for Suntheanine here than elsewhere? Why does Pure Encapsulations claim "full label transparency" when it clearly does no such thing? -
Question: Please explain to me why this supplement is 3 times as expensive as other brands?
Answer: GREED. Amazingly the seller admits this in the first line of the description as it reads today: " Supports Relaxation: l-Theanine is a unique amino acid derived from greed..." It's not "three times" as expensive it is 40 times the price of L-Theanine from other retailers like MyProtein who today had 90 gram (3.2 oz) packets on sale for $7.96. Fair market retail price for L-Theanine is $5/oz at the top end. There's only one thing my fellow Americans love more than pills and that is being conned. -

Retail market price of L-Theanine is $5 per OUNCE. 7 bottles would have to be purchased for $350 to get the same amount of L-theanine you get in a 3.5 ounce pouch from Bulk Supplements for $18. It's a tasty food not a drug so why take it in pill form when you can stir it in to beverage and avoid the flow agent? If you must have the pill form Doctor's Best is the same thing, Suntheanine brand, for under $15. -
