    Overview

    Ben's 30%-DEET mosquito, tick and insect repellent offers protection from insects that may carry West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, Lyme Disease, Dengue Fever, and other infectious diseases. Providing up to 8 hours of effective protection, Ben's 30%-DEET unique formula is made to evaporate slowly - so repellent stays on longer with little absorption into the skin. Individually wrapped wipes let you control the amount and location of repellent to apply.

    • Question: what are the other ingredients? Is there Aloe?

      Answer: The box does not list the other ingredients. You may want to call the manufacturer at 1-800-258-4696 to find out. My youngest son and I went on a 18 day African Safari and the Deet worked very well. We used latex gloves to apply the wipes on our neck and arms and one pad was enough for two people for a single application.
    • Question: How many in a packet please?

      Answer: Each packet is meant for one use only. So 12 packets, 12 uses. Great for travel. Product seemed to work for me when I used it for some backwoods hiking. I use cheaper sprays for home use.
    • Question: Can you use these wipes hand in hand with sunscreen? Or do they remove the sunscreen when wiping?

      Answer: The package says to apply sunscreen first then use the wipes.
    • Question: can you use these on your face?

      Answer: We did not put this product on our face. When we used the product on our neck it stained all our shirts.
    • Question: Will 1 wipe approximately cover the exposed skin of an adult wearing short sleeves and shorts (basically legs and arms and face/neck exposed)?

      Answer: It worked for me in the USA. Using Deet, I applied with disposable plastic gloves which you can buy in the paint department of a major hardware store. If you are going to visit Africa and India, I would not recommend shorts and short sleeve shirts. I wore long sleeve shirts and long pants in a light weight cotton to keep the sun and the flies off in Africa. In India, wearing shorts is inappropriate at most sights. Hope this helps.
    • Question: Is this an offering for a package of 12 wipes or 30 wipes ?!?! title says '30 insect repellant wipes' but in cart it says '12 wipes'. what's the qty?

      Answer: This is for 12 wipes. The "30" refers to the percentage of DEET.
    • Question: Are these 100% Vegan?

      Answer: Vegan?You don't eat them. 30% Deet!
    • Question: are these truly fragrance free? As someone wtth mcs, I hve found that fragrance free doesn't necessarily mean fragrance free.

      Answer: There is no added fragrance - this doesn't mean they have no odor - there is a chemical smell - not overwhelming and once applied - I don't notice a residual smell on my skin. These are very effective wipes w high deet content.

    When I used it, I got no bites
    The 100% DEET that I had previously used kept leaking and damaging my clothing and bags. So I tried these individually wrapped towelettes instead. I used them for three weeks in Uganda and as long as I used them, I got no bites. Others in my group were bitten multiple times by tsetse flies, in spite of having used insect repellent. Ben's worked where the others did not.

    I liked using these
    I'm not a fan of insect repellent but the insect will eat me alive, so I deal with it. I took these with me on a trip to Costa Rica. I liked that I could easily throw a few wipes in my pocket or backpack without much wait or fuss. I liked using these to apply on my legs (I was wearing shorts). I found I used one for each leg, and one covered both arms. Obviously, my hands were full of insect repellant afterward and I had to wash them, but overall it worked out well. I was encouraged to by these due to the Consumer Reports ratings.

    So-so
    These didn’t work very well to prevent bug bites. My family and I were still covered in bug bites. They were handy to carry in a bag though. I wouldn’t buy them again.

    Easy for travel
    Easy to apply and was able to use one wipe for two kids (exposed areas like lower legs and forearms). Great for traveling, was able to just stick a few in my day bag.
