Waterproof, sterile barrier: protects the I.V. Site or wound from external contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, blood and body fluids. Breathable film lets oxygen in and moisture vapor out. Just the right balance in adhesive strength: tegaderm brand dressings are made with a hypoallergenic, Latex-Free adhesive that is gentle to the skin yet securely holds catheters and other devices in place. Conformable: dressing flexes with skin for greater patient comfort. Description 2-3/8 inch x 2-3/4 inch (6cm x 7cm) transparent film dressing frame style extended Description tegaderm brand transparent dressings can be used to cover and protect catheter sites and wounds, to maintain a moist environment for wound healing, and to secure devices to the skin. In vitro testing shows that the transparent film provides a viral barrier from viruses 27 nm in diameter or larger while the dressing remains intact without leakage. Question: Whst is the bandage size ? Desctiption states 8x12. The product dimensionsstate 6x4.
Answer: The ones I bought were 8 X 12 size. -
Question: How strong is the adhesive? If the dressing must be changed daily, will it take skin with it? Is there a similar but nonadhesive product?
Answer: It is all adhesive, but the adhesive is not half as bad as the island bandages I have been putting on daily. No skin issues from this and we are three weeks using. I do use alcohol and wipe down the whole area when I do the dressing change. I use this to put on over the bandage for showering daily. They are expensive, but a life saver when you have to get out of door for work. As your wound decreases in size and don't see a size for you, I have cut to size. I have even used the left over pieces. With left over pieces I just make sure you put the lower part on first and then the higher piece over the lower portion so the water goes nicely over the seam. No leakage issues ever. Highly recommend! -
Question: Are these waterproof?
Answer: As long as they have a full seal in your skin without anything protruding from it, like a catheter or PICC line, then yes they are waterproof. -

Question: do these breathe?
Answer: No they do not breathe. I've had to use these Tegaderm patches for over 15 years, and when removing them from my arms, there is definitely a bit of sweat underneath. I keep them on for 3 days at a time, and at times a small rash on my arm where it was. I keep swapping arms and it has never been an problem. But if you need a breathable cover patch like these, this product is not what you're looking for. -
Question: Has anyone used these as a barrier for a dexcom cgm? my daughter is reacting to the adhesive and we need a new application method.
Answer: Not sure about Dexcom CGM, I can tell you that I use the product for a medical patch. The medical patch will come off if you sweat (with my condition it's a side effect) if you take a shower and where the patch must last 3 days it was only making it 1 day if I sat quietly and did nothing. The Tegaderm will keep the patch dry and it will stay on for 3 days or longer. It took me many months to find something that will work. -
