Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question: I don't have an odor in my dishwasher, but it doesn't clean dishes properly anymore. Would this help renew the efficiency?
Answer: Don't follow advice to use vinegar. Consumer Reports says that the acetic acid (which is what vinegar is) can be harmful to your dishwasher, and it doesn't do as good a job as products designed specifically to dissolve limescale in your dishwasher. You can check consumer reports dishwasher cleaning articles. -
Question: How is this better than a tablespoon of bleach?
Answer: Well, it can be run with dishes in the diswasher if you want to. It also has a pleasant, lemony scent. Bleach, especially in such a small concentration, does not do much for hard water build up/lime scale. For that you need something acidic. If you don't want to use these tablets, a cup or two of vinegar (apple cider vinegar smells better, but any vinegar will do) works fairly well. I have also sprinkled baking soda in the grate in the bottom of my dishwasher, then poured the vinegar in and let it sit a few minutes before running the dishwasher to clean it. The reaction of the vinegar and baking soda helps loosen bits of food residue caught in the grates. -
Question: Which chemical does it use? Is it citric acid?
Answer: It contains citric acid and sodium bisulfate. Does an exceleent job of cleaning. The racks slide in and out so much easier. -
Question: Is this product safe to use with septic systems?
Answer: Yes, it is safe to use with septic systems. -
Question: As good or better than the cascade one for dishwasher cleaning?
Answer: Cascade is for the regular or daily dishwashing, but this product is used to clean your equipment from debris which accumulates with the time. It is also recommended to avoid mineral buildup. -
Question: My dishwasher smells really awful even after a run a tough cycle - the manufacturer said to use Affresh. Will one use take care of the smell?
Answer: It depends on what is causing the smell. Another thing you can do is place a 2 cup pyrex fill of vinegar face up in the bottom rack and run a cycle. Worst case you may need to locate the source of the smell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cE2zW1S6Ro0 -
Question: Should I have heat drying on or off when using
Answer: You can leave heat drying on. -
Question: Are these tabs descaling dishwasher as well?
Answer: Yes, gets rid of everything except for the bottom, near the drain. I'd have to crawl in and scrub it myself to get rid of the last of everything. -
Question: How long can this product be used?
Answer: As long as you want to to use it. -
Question: Can you still use this if your dishwasher had a rinse aid in it? Our dishwasher instructions said we must keep the rinse aid in the dispenser constan
Answer: I have used Affresh tablets even with rinse aid or no rinse aid. My Mom’s dishwasher has NO dispenser for rinse aid and we just use a Affresh tablet and the glasses show No spots!! It cleans the dishes beautifully as well as cleaning the inside of the dishwasher of hard water build up!! Good luck!!🍀
