Question: is the gelatin from pork product?
Answer: I couldn't find any direct information on the question you asked, however I copied this from the Barlean's website, "Kosher Certification: Many Barlean's products are currently Kosher certified. These include: Forti-Flax, Flax Oil, High Lignan Flax Oil, Omega Twin, High Lignan Omega Twin, Borage Oil and Coconut Oil." This list does not directly identify Fish oil as kosher certified (thus not containing any pork) however it gives you some alternatives if you're seeking Omega 3 in your diet. I believe some of those products are made with similar gel caps, so I don't know why they would make one with pork gelatin and another with something different. Obviously this probably isn't enough evidence so I would suggest contacting Barlean's directly at [email protected] OR 800.445.3529. Good luck! -
Question: The 16 ounce Omega swirl is about the same price as this 8 ou strictly fish oil. Can someone explain why the fish oil is better than the omega swirl?
Answer: there is MUCH LESS omega 3 DHA/EPA about 1/3 only in the omega swirl which is a lot of sweetening and additives versus the straight oil which is just oil, maybe with some E (can't remember if its in there too) -
Question: is it pure cod liver oil no added vitamins?
Answer: This is not cod liver oil. Barlean's has a separate product line for cod liver oil. This fish oil comes from the whole fish (anchovy, sardine, and mackerel) rather than just the liver, and contains ascorbic acid, rosemary extract, ascorbyl palmitate, soy lecithin and d-alpha tocopherol. These act as an anti-oxidant ensuring the product is fresh. Ascorbic acid is vitamin C. -
Question: How is one product 'double potency' the 'ultra' vs the other ..… both barlean's brand and same amounts of epa/dha ?
Answer: 360 vs 783 EPA & 240 vs 400 DHA. -
Question: the potency of this item must be preserved in low temperature, meaning refrigerated .... sending this out without ice takes away the goodness of this?
Answer: Your question is a good one and very common so let me explain: with all unprocessed oils like this or hemp or flax, the product should be kept cold as much as possible, but exposure to warm will not spoil it like meat or perhaps ice cream as long as it isn't super hot and/or for weeks and weeks. It is kept cold before shipping and upon delivery so it is just fine. It takes heat and TIME to spoil. FYI, the reason it is all in black containers is because it is also photosensitive to light, but once again, it takes light and time to do damage. -
Question: What is the minimum age to give this product?
Answer: Studies show 2 yrs old and above or what is suggested by your health care provider. -
Question: How large are these pills?
Answer: They are a fairly easy 1,000mg size. Most fish oils are far bigger. -
Question: Does this come in a glass bottle or plastic bottle?
Answer: It came in a plastic bottle. I ordered Carlson's cod liver oil and it came in a glass bottle. -
Question: How much vitamin A and D does it contsin per serving?
Answer: Barlean's fish oil is heavy metal and toxin free as we use small body fish and do a cold water filtration which allows for the vitamin A and D to be left behind. Whats left is a pure and very high quality omega oil.
