Question: Do I add it to the detergent dispenser or just pour in tub?
Answer: Unless you have a liquid only dispenser, just put it in your dispenser. But it probably doesn't matter how you put it in. Use the Smelly Towel by itself. No detergent or softener. Dry your towels on the hottest setting. After a few washes both the towels and your washer will smell fresh. -
Question: For smelly clothes do you just use this product? Or do you add detergent as well?
Answer: It says on the bottle you don't have to add detergent. I still add my detergent anyway. It does work because my towels smell so much better. It also works on my husband's smelly work clothes, he is a plumber. Depending on how bad the towels smell it may take a few washes. -
Question: Does this work for clothing as well?
Answer: Yes, had some clothes that had gotten moldy and would not stop smelling no matter the detergent, follow the directions and the product really does work, I know some the borax works just as good, I didn't think so, it took smelly towel to get the mold out of the cloths. -
Question: Can i use this product without a washing machine?
Answer: Use Smelly Towel Cleaner without a washing machine by filling a pail or sink with hot water. Add 1 cap of cleaner then the affected smelly laundry. Allow to soak, even overnight, to allow time to remove odor. Clean your washing machine if odor returns. -
Question: What is in it?
Answer: Carbolic acid. Look on the website of the manufacturer under information data sheets. -

Question: I purchased this several years ago and I thought there was a different scent to this - I think citrus. Is there another scent option?
Answer: I'm not sure about additional scents. -
Question: I really like this product, but it has nearly tripled in price. Does anyone know of a less expensive place to purchase this?
Answer: Not I. We are not longer this product because we have been able to switch to Coscto liquid soap as it works quite well with out towels, etc. -
Question: I used it twice on my towels and they still smell. When you put them to dry the smell yuck! Anyone do something different
Answer: A lot of the things I read talked about the fabric softener that people used. I used the smelly towel on some really bad clothes that had been dirty and left behind for a long time, cut back on detergent and use smelly like directions say. Hope it help -
Question: How strong would you say is the “garden scent” this product leaves in towels when used as directed? we prefer fragrance free products. thx!
Answer: I would say it is not too strong, in fact, I kind of marvel at how nice the towels smell after being washed with this product in the washing machine. Previously our towels were very smelly to me - not anymore - quite the opposite now.
