Question: Is Glisten safe for my septic? Thank you!
Answer: The Glisten box states that it "is safe for all automatic dishwashers and septic systems." -
Question: I use to buy a product which was a powder you put on the bottom and let sit for awhile and then run the cycle. Is that how this works?
Answer: I have only used it one time and I just put it in the bottom and ran the cycle with regular detergent in the dispenser and the dishwasher filled with dishes. Seemed to work pretty good. The directions say you can also run the dishwasher empty and fill the dispenser with Glisten and any extra product goes in the bottom. -
Question: Could this product be used in an empty washing machine as well?? I have rust stains in the detergent add-in drawer-----the machine itself looks fine
Answer: I have no idea whether this product has any effect on rust stains. It was recommended to me by my appliance repair person who told me that it would remove the mineral and soap deposits in the dishwasher. He also told me that you could use it with or without dishes in the machine. I ran it through a complete cycle in an empty machine, and it seemed to work well. But I ran it through a cycle with dishes in the dishwasher and was very disappointed to see that the dishes came out clouded with a residue, and had to be washed again. -

Question: I'm confused. So to avoid hard water stains I need to be using this in every cycle?
Answer: Hi! You don't have to use glisten each time. The manufacturer recommends a monthly cycle (or longer) with an empty dishwasher for maintenance - or if you start to see hard water spots on your glasses and dishes - a cycle to remove the haze. I hope this answer helps! -

Question: If it is safe for stainless steel dishwasher interiors, would it not be safe for stainless steel utensils? Box says don't use on metal.

Question: Is this just for cleaning the dishwasher? Not the dishes? I have terrible lime stains and cannot wash glasses without big stains...

Question: how many packets come in this--isn't it 2? We had a repair guy come to the house & used 1/2 of one packet & told me to use the other half in 2 wks.
Answer: Yes, it is nly two packets. It is a good cleaner but a little pricey!!! -
Question: does this work well for hard water homes
Answer: Yes. We have very hard water and it worked just great. I used it a year ago and the inside of my dishwasher still looks brand new.
