Question: Is it possible to buy only a replacement seat? Unfortunately, these seats last only about seven or eight months and then begin to tear at the seams.
Answer: I was just looking on Google for bedside commode with padded seat ... the results of that search included a statement that people also search for replacement padded commode seat; the images offered in that search did, in fact, include a Drive Medical replacement padded commode seat that was being offered new by some vendor. So it appears that with some online searching you probably would be able to replace it. -
Question: Are wheel adapters available for this commode?
Answer: This model does have adjustable legs that are removable. I've seen leg extenders for products such as this, but I've not seen any with wheels. There are many models of commodes out there that come with wheels. -
Question: Can handles be used to get up from commode ?
Answer: The handles are very sturdy on my commode. I love it. I'm 150 lbs and have bad knees so the height is perfect and the handles are a huge help when getting up. I have had ne problem with feeling secure when using it. Just be sure the handles are fully engaged. -
Question: Can this chair be used in the shower?
Answer: Yes. In the last 5 years it has remained in the shower stall with minimal rust near the rubber pads on the legs. -
Question: Does the seat flip up?
Answer: No, it doesn't flip up like a standard toilet. It's kind of camped down on the frame and you need to pull (pry) it up. It's kinda tight. SO it will not have the ease of opening, which might be difficult for an elderly or physically disable person to easily lift it. -
Question: Can the seat be moved from front cut out to right/left side facing?
Answer: the seat clips let you position it with the cutout on any of the 4 sides. I have my cutout on the back. -
Question: Is this commode foldable for storage?
Answer: Sorry, arrived too late. Returned without opening. -
Question: Can it fit without the bucket over the toilet?
Answer: You don't need the bucket over the toilet. It has a sleeve. I placed the open toilet seat down then with the sleeve replacing the bucket I place it over the toilet for a tight fit. -
Question: how high is this seat? I am looking for something about chair height (about 18") to use over a standard height elongated toilet
Answer: Has adjustable height. Lowest is about 20 inches. Fits well over my round toilet. Can be adjusted higher for taller people or some one very weak who needs elevated seat. On lowest setting it is a little high for my daughter so we use a baby step stool to put her feet on. Very sturdy for heavy people and only one I have found with padded seat. Have one over commode and one at bedside for when too weak to walk to bathroom. -
Question: Can I remove the pan to wipe my pt while they are on the commode
Answer: I wouldn't just in case they could continue having more bowel movement.
