    Customer Questions & Answers

    • Question: What are the dimensions of the dryer balls?

Answer: They are oval in shape - about 4 inches long and 2 - 2 1/2 inches wide. I have used them for YEARS, have replaced one set and never use dryer sheets. I do use a little softener in one of the laundry cycles.
    • Question: Can these dryer balls be used in the washer too?

Answer: Hello! I've never used them in the washer. They are hollow with "holes" in one end of them. I would think they might fill up with water and possibly "mold" like children's bath toys. I wash shower curtains with a bath towel in the wash to help clean the surface of the shower curtain if that's what you were thinking with the dryer balls.
    • Question: How can you tell when to replace them?

Answer: When they crack and break open. You may never have to replace them it all depends on how hot your dryer gets and how many loads you do.
    • Question: How many do you need for large loads?

Answer: I always keep 4 in the dryer, regardless of load size, and this works well for us.
    • Question: Will the 2 plastic dryer balls be sufficient to dry a load of laundry? The wool comes in a package of 4.

Answer: The design of the blue dryerballs is different from the wool balls. The little nubs help lift and separate the clothes when drying. When testing and designing the wool dryerballs, it was determined that to achieve the same level of benefit as the blue dryerballs, it would take 4 wool ones.
    • Question: Hi! Can anyone tell me what plastic code this is (1,2,5 etc), and does it say BPA free? Thanks so much!

Answer: I see no mention on the balls or on the box for either question. There is website listed on the box- www.nelliesallnatural.com
    • Question: "Natural rubber." Does that mean these contain latex?

Answer: Thank you for the inquiry. The Nellie's All-Natural Dryerballs are TPR Thermal Plastic Rubber. Hope this helps. Regards, Rachel-Nellie's Customer Car
    • Question: Why is there still static when I use these?

Answer: Hi! I'm sorry you're still having static while washing your garments - the dryer balls cut down on static. Synthetic material tends to give off more static.
    • Question: How do you know when to get new ones? On average how long do most of these last?

Answer: When they split in half. Or in a year whichever comes first.
    • Question: What are these made of?

Answer: Thank you for the inquiry. The Nellie's All-Natural Dryerballs-2 count (blue) are made of PVC FREE thermal plastic rubber. Hope this helps. Regards, Rachel Nellie's Customer Car

    Sturdy dryer balls
The dryer balls seem to allow clothes to dry more uniformly so we don’t have to dry certain parts of the load longer. In the winter, there is usually static but these may help reduce the static a bit. We only use them for full loads because the balls thump around in the dryer. The thumping is loud with smaller loads.

    Works well but somewhat noisy
I like the fact I don't need dryer sheets

The soft ones are much quieter in the dryer
Love the softer ones less noisy, but hold up great.

    Say goodbye to dryer sheets
We use 2 balls in every dryer load. Clothes come out great, no static cling, and it’s perfect if you have clothes made of a wicking fabric since you cannot use fabric softener on that material.

    These really work!
Unlike other dryer balls, these are softer and do not make loud noise in the dryer! And they cut dryer time!

These are better than the soft ball ones. They last longer and don't fall apart .
They are nicer and last longer than the lint ball ones.

They last for a long time if you know how to take care of them.
I want to preface with, one of my balls exploded after about a year and a half of using them. You only want to use these for large water absorbent loads (eg. Pants, towels, comforters) because heat will cause things like these to pop or melt over time. All of the plastic balls are like this, even tennis balls have a risk of exploding in the dryer if they get hot enough. These ones have a built in hole to help release pressure which reduces the risk of exploding, compared to other brands. Even though I know the risks of them exploding, using them saves me time and electricity. Both of which are a godsend in summer months. So I'm buying another pair. Maintenance: *You wanna make sure that hole doesn't melt closed between loads. I inspected the ball that had exploded, sure enough, hole melted shut. Inability for expanding air molecules to escape causes pressure and kaboom, you got a cracked ball. (they are not magic) *If the hole melts shut you can easily poke it with something sharp like a needle to recreate/widen the hole, and then they'll be safe to keep using them. *DON'T USE THESE ON HIGHEST HEAT SETTING! You really don't need to either. These will move your clothes around to the point, they'll need less heat and time to completely dry. If you have a free day experiment with times and temperatures. If you want an option to replace dryer sheets for all loads, don't get these, get wool balls or one of those color catcher sheets. Both help reduce static and are fine for everyday loads of laundry. Again, these are only good for reducing drying time of large water absorbent loads! You won't really notice a difference with everyday loads imho.
