    Customer Questions & Answers

    • Question: SmartyPants - could you address why many of the nutrients are under 100% RDV & is there any option that includes minerals, as well?

Answer: Please DO NOT give your children Flinstone Vitamins as the other answer suggested, they are the reason I have ADD/ADHD and many other studies say they cause this. The reason these don't have 100% is because most Americans get the majority of these Vitamins and Minerals naturally from food. Americans generally do not get enough Vitamin A, C, or E. Too much Vitamin A builds up and can become toxic, and you can get 100% of Vitamin C from one 8oz glass of Orange Juice.
    • Question: There is nothing on the label that says that is certified ORGANIC. How can you put that in the description of the product?

Answer: I'm Mike from SmartyPants. SmartyPants uses as many organic ingredients as possible. We use organic black carrot juice, organic turmeric, organic cane sugar, and organic tapioca syrup. Currently, the USDA's National Organic Program (NOP) recognizes no fish oil as "organic". However, we believe the eco-friendly fish oil in our gummies meets all of the NOP requirements for "organic" compliance; and we are working with our manufacturer to obtain this designation. Though not yet designated 'organic', our fish oil is USP Certified, cold pressed, and eco-friendly, sourced from only anchovy and sardine.
    • Question: Dose it contain pork jelly?

      Answer: Yes, gelatin
    • Question: What type of gelatin is in these fish or bovine

Answer: https://smartypantsvitamins.com/faqs/what-kind-of-gelatin-do-you-use/ What kind of gelatin do you use? by Barrel Admin The gelatin in SmartyPants vitamins is 100% non-GMO and extracted from pork skin, exclusively. Gelatin is one of the most important proteins in connective tissue, skin, and bones. We use gelatin to encapsulate the fish oil. Gelatin encapsulation helps protect the fish oil from spoiling and giving our gummies a fishy taste. The actual base of our gummies is pectin, which comes from citrus peels. We are currently working on a vegetarian and Kosher version of our product. • Question: My son is only 20 months. Is there a version for younger children?

Answer: Hi Jennifer: Our SmartyPants Kids gummies were formulated for children ages 3 to 16. Our reasoning for starting SmartyPants at 3 years of age is due to a potential choking hazard - which physicians agree exists until age 3. If you do decide, and your pediatrician recommends starting your toddler sooner, some customers who have chosen to do the same - have cut the gummies into smaller pieces and the recommendation is to only give 2 gummies until they are over 36 months - but please seek your own pediatrician's approval first before giving gummies to a child younger than 3.
    • Question: How chewy are these supposed to be? I just ordered them and they are the chewy like "dots" candy, which seems tough for my little one.

Answer: My 3year old loves them and they're not too hard for her. They're gummy candy style- so a little tougher than a gummy bear. If you warm them up they get softer.
    • Question: Why is there so much B-12 in this product. It seems like a huge amount and I know B-12 is water soluable, but still seems like a crazy amount?

Answer: Hi My name is Gordon Gould and I am the co-founder / coCEO of SmartyPants. First, I want to thank you for asking your question about b12. We always appreciate the opportunity to help our customers better understand what is in SmartyPants and why. To answer your question of why we put in seemingly so much B12, it is important to understand that B12 is poorly absorbed by the human body due to the large size of the vitamin molecule and the necessity of bonding with intrinsic factor found in the stomach (studies show that intrinsic factor is deficient in many people for a variety of reasons). For this reason, only a fraction of the B12 on our label is actually absorbed through the intestines, making the larger dosage necessary to receive any benefit at all. This is why you see higher levels of B12 in many high quality multivitamins and stand alone B12 supplements. As you noted, B12 is a water soluble vitamin, so your body is able to excrete whatever excess is not used - which addresses any concerns about reaching the upper toxicity limit of Vitamin B12. Additionally, it is also important to note the form of B12 we use in SmartyPants, methlycobalamin. Methylcobalamin is the natural and bioavailable form of B12 used by your brain and nerves and is the form of B12 found naturally in food. Unfortunately, most other supplement companies use cyanocobalamin which is a synthetic form of B12 because it is cheaper to use and which is not naturally occurring. In order to get any benefit from cyanocobalamin, your body must first convert it into methylcobalamin. Furthermore, it is estimated that about 35-40% of the population has mutation of the MTHFR gene which means they are less able to convert the synthetic cyanocobalamin into the natural, bioavailable methylcobalamin. Lastly, it is worth pointing out that cyanocobalamin is synthetically manufactured by bonding with cyanide (a poison). After your body converts the artificial cyanocobalamin into the natural form of methylcobalamin, there is a small cyanide residue left over. Your liver then must work extra hard to get rid of that poison from your body. Hopefully, this helps answer your question about why we use the amount of B12 we do and gives insight into why we suggest you use supplements that use methylcobalamin form of B12.
    • Question: Do these contain soy?

Answer: Hi James, Thank you for you interest in SmartyPants! We are free of Soy Allergens. Because we chose to use a Natural form of Vitamin E as opposed to synthetic, our Natural E is from soy distillates. It is not required to be labeled as an allergen as it is highly refined and does not contain allergenic proteins. But as we think we should always err on the side of safety, we do not list soy on our "free of" on our label. I would share this information with your healthcare professional. I hope that helps. Please feel free to ask any other questions. Best, Ali
    • Question: Are these vitamins kosher? If so, can someone take a picture and post-it of the kosher symbol?

Answer: I don't see any kosher symbol. I will post pictures of all sides.
    • Question: SmartyPants: Is there any magnesium, calcium, or vitamin k2??

Answer: I don't see magnesium or calcium but there is Vitamin K2.

    Great vitamins!
The only down side to these vitamins for me is the serving size (4 gummies) - but I appreciate that my toddler takes these without issue and she gets a reliable dose of vitamins.

    Best kids gummie out there!
My 11 year olds pediatrician reccomended these and my daughter loves them. She has to take 4 a night which is tedious but she takes 2 before dinner and 2 after and has no complaints. If you’re struggling on which vitamin to buy for your child, this is the one!
