Question: Will this remove cat urine that has saturated carpet, possibly to the pad, and is an old stain?
Answer: I used it on a carpet that had set-in, dried cat urine odor. I had tried everything out there, but NOTHING worked. BacOut was my last ditch effort before ripping up the carpet and pad (maybe even sub-floor) and recarpeting the whole room. The husband was very ticked off. I completely saturated the entire area and was impressed with the pleasant smell. It took about a week to completely dry. At that point, I could still detect a faint lingering odor, so I repeated the treatment and completely re-saturated the entire area. Two weeks later, the carpet was dry and the odor was GONE. Not even my husband’s discerning nose could detect any odor at all. WOW. It’s a staple in my house now, just in case. -
Question: What is the live enzyme culture?
Answer: Enzymes remove odors by causing a biological or chemical reaction. A type of protein, enzymes are produced by living organisms, but they are not alive. An enzyme is made up of a chain of amino acids, and it’s the changes to the sequence in the structure that dictates the function of the enzyme. The two most common enzymes used in cleaning products are proteases and amylases, because they are food-based and are the catalysts behind removing and changing the physical properties in most protein related stains and odors. Proteases act on soils and protein-based stains — blood, foods, urine, feces, wines, other beverages, etc. The enzymes in the spotter break down the proteins into more manageable substances. The actual composition of the stain changes when an enzyme-based product is applied (after debris is removed from the surface) - See more at: http://www.cleanlink.com/cp/article/Using-Enzymes-For-Odor-Control--14119#sthash.3FIZXdLQ.dpuf -
Question: Can somebody give me step-by-step instructions for using this product for cloth diapers?
Answer: With our Bum Genius reusable diapers, I shake/scrape out any solids from the diaper, spray both the diaper cover and stained pad underneath with Bac-Out, and store in a wet bag that I leave closed on the sink near our toilet. I don't do any other rinsing or scrubbing by hand, and wash diapers every 2 days. In the washer, I do one normal cold wash with half the amount of laundry soap (I use Charlie's Soap powder- less build up), and then a second wash in hot with 2 rinse cycles and using a normal amount of soap. They come clean and it's been easier than I had expected to manage reusables! -
Question: Is this best for set in dog urine stains?
Answer: I have only used it on recent accidents from dog and cats. Once it has set in It is difficult, and you may need a cat brush or something of that nature. I have not found anything that can take our older accidents. -
Question: Just want to confirm. you do not dilute this product. right?
Answer: Nope do not dilute! -
Question: Do you use this as an additive with your laundry detergeant?
Answer: Yes you can! Use 1-2 cups of Bac-Out Odor + Stain Remover with your normal amount of laundry detergent for a boost to your laundry. -
Question: How much do i use in carpet cleaner ? i used about 1/2 cup to every gallon and it worked great ! but is there a suggested amount to use ?
Answer: That was what I used...worked great. -
Question: Is this product is same as biokleen bac-out fresh, lemon thyme?
Answer: There are 3 different products. One comes in a little bottle in flavor a of lemon or lavender and is a odor eliminator similar to Febreze, only better. This product stain an odor remover, is a cleaner and a light weight one at that. There is also Biokleen enzyme cleaner which wonderful to use on laundry odors, cat boxes, fish oil smells, that nature. Much pricier and similar to like Natures Miracle, but better. Works also on carpets. -
Question: What’s the best way to use this in front loader to get mold smell out of laundry load? along with detergent? in rinse cycle? temperature? thx!
Answer: I’m picky, but here’s what I’d do: first, run the load through a soapless short cycle, just to rinse it out. Then - assuming your washer has a soak cycle - start an 8-hr cycle on cold, then add a quart to the front (not the detergent dispenser) and let the cycle finish. THEN wash with your regular detergent as hot as the fabrics and colors will permit. But I’ve done this primarily on cold, and it worked fine. Good luck! -
Question: Has anyone used this product to get rid of skunk smell. My dogs have been sprayed and we didn't know until they came into the house on the carpet...
Answer: I used it but had to redo the rug a second time. I took him to the groomer twice also! If your dog or cat only rolled around in one spot this should be fine. It was 2am when Hank got sprayed and it took me several minutes before I realized what had happened. In that time he managed to run through the house so he left the skunk scent everywhere. I kept a spray bottle around as well as the air freshener so when I'd happen to get a whiff of scent I'd try to pinpoint the area and clean and spray. It took well over a week before it was totally gone! But if you can contain and bathe your dog immediately, and then wash the area he rolled on this product should probably do the trick. I'm physically challenged so I couldn't do much til a friend came in the morning to help with the bath and cleanup! It would be best to bathe him outside!
