Question: is this liquid metal or liquid alcohol
Answer: Probably it is not liquid metal; it could be alcohol or something else. However, it was useless as it would not shake down once up. -
Question: I can't get this to shake down as someone else has commented. Anyone know a trick to get it to shake down?
Answer: I taped mine (in its case) to a two foot piece of automotive electrical wire and whirled it round and round for about a minute...seemed to work. Tape it good, of course, so it doesn't fly off! -
Question: What is the liquid if not mercury ?
Answer: I don't know what the liquid is, but don't buy it because you can't shake it down. An unusable product as far as I'm concerned. -
Question: Is it easy to read? (some mercury thermometers are extremely hard to read)
Answer: I haven't had any problems reading it at all. It's works well and when comparing readings with other thermometers, it's very accurate. -
Question: What do you use to sanitize it after using?
Answer: If you are the lucky one who received a product which actually works you can sanitize it with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol. -
Question: adn what is this easy flip does? i already contacted the company, waiting for their respond, easy flip--why flip, easy shaking would do better,right
Answer: I'm not sure what an "easy flip" is, but when I'm done using my thermometer, I just shake it to bring the temperature back down again. -
Question: Why is this item still listed? This item is notoriously bad, too fragile, often arrives broken, or can't be shaken down.
Answer: Dear customer, Geratherm Classic thermometer is our best seller and we have been distributing this great Mercury free thermometer in the UK since 2013. We understand some customers are used to mercury thermometers that bring the liquid down easily. Mercury is banned in many countries. Gallistan inside Geratherm Classic needs more flicks to reset the thermometer to at least 36ºC, ready for a new measurement.
