Question: Is this suitable for dark color wash as well?? Concerned about fading.
Answer: When I use Molly's with a dark load the wash water becomes very dark, blackish. I'm concerned Molly's is too strong and pulls the dye. I've observed this multiple times. I don't see this with conventional detergents. Because of this concern I will not use Molly's Suds on my darks. I did not see any fading but I bet if I continued using Molly's with my darks, I would. Maybe I have a bad batch but if not I think others would see the same thing if they checked their wash during the agitation portion of the cycle. Otherwise I think it is great for my whites. -
Question: So I know what is not in it, but what are the ingrediants?
Answer: the ingredients in this detergent remarkablyl remind me of the popular diy natural laundry detergent that is easy to find recipe to make by yourself by googling.. It has very basic ingredients that you can use to make your own detergent.. if you look up online there are ton of recipes for this kind of detergent I follow one recipe that works like a charm..a nd is super inexpensive. 1/2 cup Epsom Salt 1 1/2 cups Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) 1 1/2 cups Sodium Carbonate (washing soda) 1/4 cup Sea Salt I don't like mine to smell but some people add this to make their to be scented.. just pick any of your favorite essential oil kind and you are set. To me it is an overkill as to me the less smells the healthier. 20-25 drops Essential Oils optiona -
Question: Is there a reason I shouldn't put this in the soap dispenser (my HE does accept powder detergent in dispenser)?
Answer: When I had resarched this a while ago, the best answer I found was it just doesn't dissolve as well. I add it to the tub first then add clothes. The only annoyance is the powder sitting on a dark item (like on a delay wash) can set in to that article of clothing- so that's why I add the powder first -
Question: What are the ingredients...I don't see anything listed?
Answer: Here is the list: Ingredients: Proprietary blend of sodium carbonate from the Green River Basin in Wyoming, sodium bicarbonate, epsom salt (epsomite) and sea salt. While there are no perfumes, which are neurotoxic and petroleum based, there is a very minimal amount of organic peppermint essential oil. Question: Does this work better than Tide Free and Gentle? And if I have a front loading HE washer, does the power go in the dispensing tray and dissolve well?
Answer: This is hands down much better than Tide Free & Gentle, but you can get the whitener to use with it. I always soak the clothes when I use the whitener, and I get better results when I don’t use the dispenser, but I don’t really know why. I think most washers “dispense” the detergent in a way that doesn’t work well with this, so I always put it directly in the washer. Actually, if I’m not being lazy, I actually put it in and let the washer fill, and then I put in the clothes, but I’m not sure that makes a difference. I have been using this for years instead of bleach to clean my son’s white baseball pants, and he still wears the same pair he has worn for the last 3 years. Despite his love for sliding into every base, needed or not, his pants look brand new for every game…still. The whitener is color safe, also, so I can add anything white, even if it isn’t all white, and it doesn’t dull the other colors and works great to brighten everything white. I have even been able to get armpit stains out of white T shirts with designs on them, even ones that I haven’t been able to get clean for years. Just try it, follow the instructions, and you won’t be sorry. -
Question: Do you always need to wash in warm water? I normally wash a lot of things with cold water and am worried about the powder not dissolving completely
Answer: Whites should be washed in hot or warm water, but I have used it in cold water and never have any problems with it not getting completely dissolved. -
Question: Is this good taking out stains? What about body odor? Thanks.
Answer: I've had good luck getting out stains using the Molly's Suds All Sport. I have a spray bottle next to my washer with a 1:1 All Sport to water. I also use the oxygen whitener for my light and white clothes. I have been very happy with Molly's Suds products. The clothes smell fresh with minimal scent. I have never noticed any body odor remaining with either the laundry powder or the All Sport. For our exercise clothes, I always use the All Sport. -
Question: Is there a Molly's Suds formulated for cold water? I see it's recommended to wash warm, but what about items that call for cold?
Answer: I love Molly’s Suds, and I almost always use cold water. It cleans very well with no soap residue. I have used most of the package and will be ordering again. -
Question: There was a review mentioning it has peppermint flavor, may I know if it's true and if it's strong or if you barely can smell it? Thank you!
Answer: You can smell the peppermint in the package when you open it but it goes away in the wash. It is just the right amount but it is not overwhelming at all. Once your clothes come out of the washer you can no longer smell the peppermint. -
