    Product Details

    • Unlike other ineffective DEET alternatives, Natrapel's 20% Picaridin formula is proven to repel mosquitoes, biting insects and ticks.
    • The CDC recommends a 20% picaridin concentration to protect against insect-borne diseases such as Zika virus, West Nile virus, eastern equine encephalitis, Lyme disease, dengue fever, and other infectious diseases.
    • This is the only formula to consistently repel mosquitoes, biting insects and ticks better than DEET in independent clinical tests.
    • Easy to apply, the pump spray bottle provides full coverage for complete protection. The attractive floral fragrance is much more pleasant than other repellents.
    • The 3.4-ounce pump sprayer fits anywhere, making it easy to take with you. TSA compliant size.

    Customer Questions & Answers

    • Question: What is the scent like? And how does scent compare to Sawyer repellent (pump)? I'm looking for something relatively fragrance-free.

Answer: I am not familiar with Sawyer repellant but this is not fragrance free. It does however have a nice smell and doesn't spell like normal bug spray. They use oils instead. People have asked what I have on my daughter when out bc they like the smell but it may not work for you. It works great and I don't use anything else. It really works.
    • Question: Can this be used on dogs?

Answer: We would not recommend this product for use on dogs.
    • Question: How long will a single 3.4 oz bottle last? we (2 normal-size adults) are going to the caribbean for 6 days. i'm not sure how many bottles to purchase.

Answer: I'd get two, maybe three, just in case. A lot of how long it lasts is dependent on how thorough you are in putting it on, how much of your skin is exposed, and how many times you'll need to reapply. If you were using only this spray and not varying types at all, you'd probably need one bottle each for three times a day, 6 days, in shorts and a t-shirt. Swimsuits will need a little extra coverage. And if you're in the water, I might apply again after getting out of the water. Now, you may not feel as concerned about mosquitos as that, but if you want to be fully covered, that's what I would take (1 each and then 1 extra). This is a good one to take because it doesn't eat away at plastics and may not irritate your skin for only 6 days constant use. We have been using this along with the pressurized version of this and another type of bug spray that's equally as effective because I'm pregnant and we live in Florida. We keep this on hand all the time and spray down 1-3 times a day with regular clothes on. We found that every spray will irritate your skin after months of use, and varying which ones we use helps a bit to keep irritation down.
    • Question: is natrapel effective for black flies

Answer: Sorry I’m not sure natrapels web page has a list
    • Question: It says to not use under clothes? Why? What if I spray arms and then need a jacket?

Answer: I have sprayed my arms and legs then later put on jacket and long pants. I didnt notice anything! i;ve done it more than once!
    • Question: Does reapplying necessary for around 8hr protection? Is it safe to leave it on skin overnight?

Answer: I would apply as needed. If insects start to bite you reapply. Natrapel uses Picaridin which safer to gear as Deet will melt plastics. I uses both depending on the circumstances, however, Natrapel is my go to on most trips unless the insects are just vicious then, it is Uncle Ben's 100% Deet. For the normal camper, fisherman or outdoor enthusiast Natrapel will meet your needs and expectations. Is Picaridin safer then DEET Both DEET and Picaridin have been noted as safe to use by the CDC. Though DEET is a plasticizer that is known to melt plastics and synthetics where Picaridin will not. Picaridin is safe for use on your gear and is rated as essentially “non-toxic” for use on your skin. With any repellent do not apply to broken skin and a very small percentage of users may experience skin irritation.
