    The Plastic Inner-Lip Plate is designed to assist children, the elderly, people with limited muscle control and individuals with the use of only one hand. The deep inner lip keeps food from sliding off the plate. The user brings the fork or spoon to the edge of the plate and pushes the food onto the utensil. Measures 9 inches (23 cm) in diameter.     • Question: Hi, Could you please confirm if these plates are made using melamine or propylene? Thanks

      Answer: The only information we have is that the plate is made out of a Polycarbonate construction
    • Question: Are any of these dishes microwaveable

      Answer: Yes, all Maddak® Inner-Lip Plates (except for the variation with suction cups) are dishwasher, autoclave, and microwave safe.
    • Question: Is this plate "weighted" so it will not move around easily?

      Answer: no, it's not weighted, and that was a problem. Still, the plate was a godsend - especially the red color - since it helped Mom see the food that she couldn't see on a white plate. They're not pretty and not perfect, but a big improvement.
    • Question: Does this plate scratch?

      Answer: Because it's plastic, it will scratch if you use a sharp knife on it. The sight of my Mother being able to feed herself again because of this plate far outweighed the scratches. They are not immediately noticeable.
    • Question: What are these made of? I'm looking for something that's shatter resistant.

      Answer: These are shatter resistant. Mine are pretty abused. They have been dropped from the table, thrown into walls, banged on the tab
    • Question: are these lip plates pba free?

      Answer: I'm not sure about the makeup of the plate, but I didn't use it because the plastic scores and particles become loose when cutting food with a sharp knife. I didn't feel good about serving my daughter pieces of plastic in her food.

      Answer: Hi Susan - Outer diameter of plate is 9". Inner diameter is 7".

    Not to be used with a sharp knife.
    The plate works well when used with a fork, teaspoon or soup spoon. A knife sharp enough to cut meat scars the plate to the point that it looks unsanitary.

    Not dishwasher safe, and a bit small
    Procured to see if it helped someone with Parkinson's have an easier time eating. It was unclear whether it helped or not. The design and concept seem solid and probably works okay for many. Our issue was that after one run thru the dishwasher, using liquid detergent, it appears the detergent ate into the ploatic and left a lot of residue on the plate. After a lot of soaking and scraping I got most of the white stuff off (soap or corroded plastic?) but it still looks bad. We run losts of plastics thru the dishwasher and have not seen this since we switched from powder to liquid soap several years ago. So bottom line, if you get one, wash it my hand.

    Parkinson’s
    Bought for spouse who has Parkinson’s. It’s working very good for him. If I am cutting any of his meal for him I do it on a different plate because I think this one would scratch

    Great size very light works great to hold paper plate when you want to!
    Stains with tomato sauce. Been through dishwasher for 3 months still very strong no sign of degradation

    No more spilling.
    Works well. Wish it were bigger. My husband is partially paralyzed and stops smaller food from spilling off the plate while he's eating.

    Perfect for need
    My father has Parkinson's and this plate was perfect for him when he got out of rehab.
