Question: Your product description describes these as "Our sheaths are non-sterile". Isn't this the opposite of what these covers should be? I want sterile.
Answer: Sterile is for bloodstream. Food and rectal products do not need to be sterile at all. There is just no need. -
Question: Is it necessary to used a thermometer cover?
Answer: If the machine works without one, then "My" opinion is no, they aren't necessary since I'm pretty sure they are for sanitary purposes only, (if using with more than one person). You can just wipe the tip with alcohol and dry it with a clean cloth.
