Question: If not smoked in 2 weeks but had nicorette gum- 2 pieces on tuesday, thursday & monday. would i test positive on saturday (5 days after last one)?
Answer: Smoking infrequently, cotinine still will usually be present in your urine for about four days. With regular exposure to nicotine, cotinine may be detectable for up to three weeks after your last exposure. A positive urine test depends on when you provide a urine sample relative to the last time you ingested nicotine. Nicorette gum can cause a positive for cotinine. -
Question: How do you complete the test
Answer: Collect 15-30ml of fresh human urine , having a paper towel handy. Remove the cap from the dip stick and dip the strip into urine for 15 seconds (making sure the plastic cassette doesn’t touch any urine) then recap laying it aside. Lines will appear in 1-5 minutes. The C line is your control line and the T line is your test line. Any presence of a line faint, light or dark counts as negative. No worries if you forget this as our cotinine test packs have the procedure printed on the back of the foil pouches. -
Question: Had 2 cigarettes week of 11-4-11/8, tested positive 12/4. Can nicotine last this long in urine or was there a "slip-up" not mentioned since the 8th?
Answer: Regular use of nicotine, cotinine can be detectable for up to three weeks since your last exposure. A positive urine cotinine test depends on when ya give the urine sample relative to the last time you ingested nicotine. As far as the slip up you mentioned that’ll definitely come into play if indeed there was one. -
Question: Would this help in testing a child who was exposed to second hand smoke?
Answer: No, too high of a cutoff level in order to detect the nicotine since it was not directly consumed by firsthand smoke. Since this is a child I’d seek out a medical professional in regards, thanks. -
Question: Do all vapes have nicotine?
Answer: Some vapes contain only flavor ingredients and no nicotine. Others contain marijuana and no nicotine. -
Question: does it test for anything other than tabbaco. cotinine and nicotine? or is it just that?
Answer: This just tests for nicotine/tobacco. -
Question: is there anything else I should test for beside nicotine and thc to determine if my child is smoking vapes?
Answer: Sometimes teens and young adults will vape flavors only, and these are extremely difficult to detect. It is also possible to vape other drugs of abuse but this would be very unusual. So, as a general answer, only nicotine and marijuana are typically vaped. -

Answer: This device tests for the presence of Cotinine and Nicotine so if the vape contains nicotine it will result in a positive result within the cutoff level. This test meets the accepted standard cutoff level of 200 ng/ml and will detect the presence of nicotine for up to 2-4 days after use (and possibly longer, depending on the frequency of tobacco use). -
Question: What is result if bottom bar is very faint /light?
Answer: It’s definitely negative. There is no relationship between line intensity and the presence of nicotine/Cotinine. Line intensity often varies due to the nature of the urine sample.
