Answer: It just says gelatin. It doesn't say what kind. -
Question: What is in this prebiotic that requires the California Act 65 Warning about birth defects or reproductive harm?
Answer: The Prebiotic Formula contains a few herbal ingredients such as, Slippery Elm, Burdock Root, and Arabinogalactin Bark. Almost all herbal ingredients grown contain lead. This is not added to the product. It is in the herbs inherently from sources such as pollutants and ends up in the soil and water used to grow the ingredients. Prop 65 applies to any product or service received or used in California. As applied to foods, Prop 65 makes no distinction between natural and artificial products. Although, it excludes “naturally occurring” chemicals in foods, that term does not include man made pollutants that may end up in natural products through processes outside of the manufacturer’s control. Prop 65 does not distinguish between chemicals that result from natural phenomena like volcanic activity; chemicals that result from worldwide soil, water, and air pollution that are naturally absorbed by plants; those that are the result of local / regional problems like pesticide overspray or chemicals leaks those that are intentionally applies like synthetic fertilizers and pesticides; and those that are introduced later in drying or processing. It is important to understand that while these limits are set in place for the consumers safety, the OEHHA (Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment ...) recognizes that the consumption limits (“safe harbor limits”) on lead (0.5mcg) are 1,000 lower than “ safe exposure” amounts. This means that when tested on humans and animals, by law it would take 1,000 times more lead than 0.5mcg to have any observable effects on the reproductive system. -
