Deet has been used as an insect repellent in the United States For more than 50 years. It’s recommended for those spending longer periods of time outdoors, in more heavily infested conditions. Recommended by the centers for Disease Control & prevention for effective, long-lasting protection against mosquitoes, DEET is also an effective repellent for ticks. Deet-based products are available in a wide variety of REPEL formulas, including aerosols, sprays & wipes.     • Question: Is this made to spray clothing?

      Answer: You can spray clothing, but not so good for it. Better to spray you (it works for about 5 hrs of hot work, gardening, hiking etc), then wipe off or shower.
    • Question: Does this spray have a strong odor of repellent and does it leave your skin feeling sticky?

      Answer: It smells when you first spray it but the odor does not last. My skin did not feel sticky. I used in Uganda and it worked great.
    • Question: How long does the bottle last if used twice a day?

      Answer: I was gone for 2 weeks and used it about 2x per day everyday. I probably used about 3/4 of a bottle! I definitely used it pretty liberally too (I say that because I had bought 2- I used one mostly but occasionally had used the other bottle as well). Hope this helps!
    • Question: Is it safe to use in combination with sunscreen?

      Answer: Yep! Always put on sunscreen first and then apply the deet second.

      Answer: It is only one bottle and it works great.......I live in Fla and should have purchased two bottles since everyone uses mine!!
    • Question: Does anyone know what the "normal" effective percentage of deet is that most people use? I saw a 98.11% and 100% bottle. Is 40% effective enough?

      Answer: According to an FDA study, deet actually does not get any more effective beyond about 20-30% concentration. Higher concentrations extend the length of time the repellant is effective, but for me this 40% concentration was effective for between 2 and 4 hours depending on how much we sweated (which was heavily). Deet repellant effectiveness ultimately depends on proper reapplication.
    • Question: can we just spray it on skin

      Answer: No
    • Question: Will it repel ticks?

      Answer: According to the label it will repel all insects. I do have to say this is the best mosquito repellant I have ever used.
    • Question: Is this product EPA registered?

      Answer: EPA continues to believe that the normal use of DEET does not present a health concern to the general population, including children. Currently registered uses of DEET are also not expected to result in adverse effects for listed and non-listed endangered species, or critical habitat.

    I bought this because I do a lot of outside activities in Florida. This stuff isn't the best smelling but it does the job and last all day.

    Was still getting but & it ruined my nails
    So I bought these for my travel to an area with many mosquitoes. At first i thought it was working but I was still getting bit. The smell is strong and if you have acrylics, don’t get these anywhere near your hands. I sprayed and it got on my acrylics and ruined my nails. It smeared/melted my nail polish. I don’t know if the mosquitoes became immune to it or what but when I had this sprayed on, they still managed to bite me. I guess they could’ve bit me even more than they did hence why I’m giving it 3 stars.
