Question: Has anyone used this for tmj pain? if so, does it help you?
Answer: FWIW to chronic TMJ sufferers -- I thought I had TMJ since several specialists confirmed my dentist's original diagnosis. The TMJ specialist said that I wasn't a candidate for surgery. So I had to take NSAIDs 24/7 and wear a jerry-rigged ** ace bandage & icepack all day, every day. (** In the 1980s, nifty velcro wraps like this weren't available. At work, they called me the "ice lady"). After 18 months of suffering, my new TMJ specialist x-rayed the area in pain and discovered a severely abscessed root. After I had a root canal done this pain was gone. Also FWIW, I told each specialist that this pain started right after I got a crown placed. Not a one of them -- including the dentist who did the crown !!!! -- suggested that the crown could be the problem. Just my 2¢ worth.... -
Question: Does the wrap smell or offgas?
Answer: The ice packs do not, but the fabric wrap smells HORRIBLE. -
Question: What is the wrap made of?
Answer: The wrap feel like soft fleece. -
Question: How long do the gel packs stay cool? I purchased another one from a different company and had to return it
Answer: I would say it stays cool for like an hour or more but the therapy with cold or hot should be done no longer than 30 min I believe. This product is amazing. -
Question: Can you please confirm the measurements of this item? It states ‘adjustable from 27”-30”’ and I measure 23.5”. This seems too large.
Answer: It does measure that long when laid out flat. But there is 4 inches of velcro on each side for adjustability. It will fit an adult size head. -
Question: Can you sleep with it on?
Answer: Most definitely!! I use it almost every night to help relieve tension/pain in my jaw. At some point during the night I remove the wrap and feel so much better. -
Question: The material is extremely itchy and irritating. What is it made of?
Answer: It's microfiber of some sort. Ours is very, very soft. -
Question: Can the cold/heat packs be replaced? I put the pack in the microwave for only the second time and it burst. My daughter just got her wisdom teeth out.
Answer: I’m not sure. When I got my wisdom teeth out I just used the packs cold to help with swelling. I imagine you could put any small ice/heat pack in the pouch as long as it fit. Might be cheaper to buy a duplicate of this though. -
Question: can this be used for facelift surgery?
Answer: Would cover most facelift incisions - suggest ask Surgeon before using
