Question: Does this thermometer have the option for silent mode? The last thermometer we had woke the baby up during temperature readings. Thanks!
Answer: This does not have a silent mode. It makes a high pitched beep that is rather loud. I now wish I had purchased one with a silent option. -
Question: Would this work on a dog?
Answer: It will not be accurate. With the ear function these thermometers measure the heat radiated off the of the ear drum. Dogs have a vertical ear canal followed by a 90 degree bend (horizontal ear canal) before the eardrum. Because of this anatomy the sensor is almost certain to not get a good view of the eardrum in order to make an accurate reading. There have actually been peer reviewed studies on this. (FYI I'm a vet). -
Question: Does it display the temp in Celsuis?
Answer: You have the option to choose celsuis or fahrenheit -
Question: Can it show the temperature in degree centigrade?
Answer: I cannot find my manual and accidently changed to centigrade. How do I change it back? -
Question: I'm skeptical of so many 5 star reviews coming in every day. Is there some incentive to give rave reviews, or is it really that amazing?
Answer: Yes, there was an incentive from a survey company for this product (I got the product free). I initially loved it, but now that we are in a pandemic, I need accurate data.. my ear readings are consistent 102.9, 102.6, etc. I am not sick.. I do have an autoimmune disease, but I'm not feverish. The readings are normal for my kids (98-99) though. I'm thinking it over-inflates higher temps. -
Question: Does the forehead function need contact to work or is a non contact thermometer?
Answer: In response to your question, I tested the device twice, both making contact, and just above the skin surface, on contact, read 97.7, and off 97.1, and 97.2.....so about .50 degree difference between the two methods, not enough to be concerned about in my opinion. I hope this helps. -
Question: how do you change from celcius to ferenhiet?
Answer: From the info the manufacturer emails after purchase: "Hold the EAR-button for 8 seconds, right from the OFF-mode. After 4 seconds, the “M”-sign will appear. Ignore this and keep holding the button. After 8 seconds the 'F-sign' or 'C-sign' will appear. Release the EAR-button and press the EAR-button once again. The sign will change. Wait 5 seconds for the screen to go blank and you are good to go. The thermometer will save your preferred settings for next time you start using it." -
Question: How many decimal places does this thermometer read to?
Answer: It reads to one decimal place. -
Question: How accurate is it?
Answer: I have checked it against the other 3 thermometers I have, and against the hospital thermometers. It seems to be very accurate. I generally use the forehead scanner, but the ear has not given me any reason to doubt.
