Answer: The Backpod will do a really good stretch on tight rib joints and a 'peanut' or foam roller can't. Also, all rollers and balls are unstable, so your muscles can't relax on them, which means you don't get as good a stretch on the joints. -
Question: Can you use this in bed?
Answer: No, it's not recommended. The Backpod can not do such a good stretch on a tight thoracic spine on a springy surface like a bed. The most effective way is to lie on the Backpod on a carpeted floor, with a pillow or two under your head for more comfort if needed. -
Question: Is this a massager? Is it an alarm to make you use good posture? Still not sure how you use it.
Answer: No, it's not a massager. It's a high tech cushioned fulcrum - sort of a cushioned lump carefully shaped for your spine. You just lie back on it to stretch any tight rib cage and spinal joints round your back. You usually just use it for about 15 minutes daily until things are free. After that, just whenever you need a stretch to keep them free. -
Question: Does this help low back pain?
Answer: No, the Backpod won't help low backs directly, but freeing up the upper and middle back with it takes a surprising amount of load off the low back. However, freeing up the upper and middle back and rib cage takes a lot of load off a low back problem. -
Question: Has anyone had any luck using this to pop their first rib back into place? The first rib in the neck is so hard to reach and hoping there’s a technique
Answer: Using the Backpod is excellent for stretching tight rib joints free generally, but it doesn’t have as much leverage on the very top rib - a.k.a. the first rib. Massage techniques and jiggling the first rib are needed to free it up. -
Question: I can't get on the floor. How can I use this?
Answer: You can use it on a medium firm mattress or put a yoga mat on top of a firm mattress to make Backpod more effective. -
