Question: Is this the same product previously packaged as 3-M Tarni-shield in a black bottle?
Answer: Thank you for asking. Yes, they are the same. -
Question: Is this safe on Pandora jewelry? I used cleaner, it turned dull with a white coating, will this restore it back to its original shine?
Answer: Pandora is solid sterling jewelry so it will polish it, but I have the same problem with the white coating that I can't seem to remove. -
Question: Is this product safe for sterling silver jewelry that has darkened?
Answer: Scotchgard Tarni-Shield Silver Polish can be used on jewelry, silver, copper, brass, and other metals. -
Question: I have an inexpensive silverplated tea set. What is the best cleaner for it? I am afraid the plating is thin and I don't want to ruin it.
Answer: From what I know of silver plate, is that it is just that. At some point in life it will be worn through. I have some plated again. Leaving tarnish on the item will ruin it. I find the 3M product wonderful. The best. That said Hagerty's makes something called silver wash. That is very soft product. That might be easier on the item. Hope this helps. -
Question: Could this product be used in a jewelry tumbler with steel shot?
Answer: I believe it can be used; however, make sure you thoroughly clean and dry the tumbler when finished. -
Question: Can this be used to resilver a mirror?
Answer: No. It will bring out the shine in tarnished silver, but will not resilver an old mirror. Resilvering is a different chemical process entirely. -
Question: How long does it last?
Answer: Not as long as I had hoped. Three months was about the max before it started to turn. -
Question: Can this be used as a dip?
Answer: No, it is too thick for that. Never use a dip type tarnish remover on silver. It takes all the patina off leaves it flat.
