    Overview

    For use on clothing, tents, and other gear, Sawyer Premium Permethrin Clothing Insect Repellent not only repels insects, it actually kill ticks, mosquitoes, chiggers, mites, and more than 55 other kinds of insects on contact. It is effective against the Aedes Aegypti (Yellow Fever Mosquito), which can transmit the Zika Virus.

    Permethrin is odorless after drying and will not stain or damage clothing, fabrics, plastics, finished surfaces, or any of your outdoor gear. Use it while hunting for an odorless way to protect yourself from common bugs. The active ingredient Permethrin is a synthetic molecule similar to pyrethrum which is taken from the Chrysanthemum flower.

    A single application lasts up to six washings or up to 40 days of sun exposure. Repellent should be applied outdoors and before clothing is worn; after it’s treated, hang clothing and let dry 2 hours (4 hours in humid conditions).

    • Question: Would using permitherin on my clothes and picadirin for my skin be overkill for going to puerto vallarta and sayulita mexico?

      Answer: I personally prefer not wearing chemicals on my skin. I have worn Permethrin on my clothes through many jungles of 3rd world countries, and on my clothes in the US. I end up covered head to toe and never have gotten bitten by anything or found anything attached to my clothes. Maybe someone else can answer about the Picadirin.

    My husband and I go hiking all around the country in our RV and I couldn’t imagine going without treating our clothing. Knock on wood, no ticks spotted in 3 years!

    Great insect repellant!!!!
    I haven’t had a chance to use the stuff for fabric, but I use body repellant almost every day. I am that person that always gets bit. Wrist, between the sock and pant leg, behind the ear! They always find me, but this stuff is a game changer. This was my first time using Picaridin, and I love it! I like to go out in the garden early morning and drink my coffee. I hate to spray OFF or something with deet.. It smells so terrible and I feel like I immediately have to come in and shower. This stuff has almost no order. My husband is very sensitive to smell and he can’t smell it on me at all once it dries. It’s very light, and it works!! And it works for a Long time. If I go out for a cocktail after work on the deck, I usually do not need to reapply from the morning. It does come in a spray bottle rather than an aerosol which I like. I will spray a little on my calf, rub it around, then another spray on the other side. Really really great!! If I was going out in the woods for a long time, I might still use the deet, but this is fabulous for basic yard work or sitting on the deck.
