      Answer: Personal experience: I tried it outside on a sunny day for several minutes, and it didn't darken, or even begin to generate smoke on white paper.

      Answer: It will enlarge small, but visible, characters on a phone It will not create manifestation of invisible characters. It does not "zoom" in. I hope that helps.
    • Question: What type of plastic are these made from?

      Answer: Uncertain. The plastic is clear credit-card-sized, and soft enough to bend without breaking. The lens action is accomplished by concentric Fresnel grooves, which are apparently hot-pressed into one side. Thus, there is no spherical aberration near the edges.
    • Question: Would these work as fire starters?

      Answer: Yes, they would be VERY effective as fire starters.

      Answer: I hold it about 2 to 3 inches from whatever I am reading, but it would probably depend on how good it bad your eyes are.

      Answer: 300% magnífication is the same as 3X as 500% is the same as 5X.

    So easy to store in pocket or purse
    It’s is so easy to carry around in my purse Or pocket. Really helped to read small print on packages in the store. Great!

    Works as adverized
    Magnifes enough for my eyes to read most small print. Have heard not good for fire starting. That must depend on your sunlight. Here in Florida ignited paper in about 30 seconds. Each comes with a protective sleeve. Fits perfectly in my wallet.

    Cheap and portable
    I give these away to friends and family who are of a certain age. They are very useful and fit easily in a wallet or purse. Just make sure you put them back the blue sleeve after use. I've lost one because I didn't do that. They are translucent, so obviously harder to find when they're out of the sleeve! Given the price, the clarity is not 100%, but they're adequate for quick views of things.

    Perfect size
    These are quite thin, even in their protective case. Perfect for keeping in my wallet for those times when I can’t read the fine print.

    Easier to carry than a "real" magnifying glass
    The only reason to buy these is to have one with you when you can't carry a magnifier with a glass or plastic lens. The problem with these is that the resolution is just not that good. So if you just have to read a label on a can it is OK but the letters will not be sharp, just readable. So it is a specialty item and it is cheap so just try it and see if you have a use for them.
