Answer: Yes, the older ones would work, but it won't communicate with the handle, so you'd have to adjust the settings manually. -

Question: Why use glass to charge? Can you drink out glass?
Answer: Its considered a premium accessory. You can drink out it, but we don't recommend it. Just make sure to dry the glass after use with a soft towel. -
Question: Can it be charged on a Qi charging pad?
Answer: It comes with its on charging pad and three different heads. I hope I have answered you question. By the way I'm not sure what a "Qi charging pad" is. -
Question: Since the 9700 comes with 8 brush heads, can I assume that it is for two people?
Answer: Multiple brush heads invite multiple users. -
Question: How many days will this last with out charging? Traveling a few days and would prefer to leave charging base home.
Answer: Hello! The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart 9700 Toothbrush has an operating time of up to 14 days (full to empty). -
Question: Can I stand the toothbrush up straight in the charger? How exactly does the charger work?
Answer: You don’t have to charge it in the glass. There’s a separate, tiny charging stand that is the same size as the bottom of the brush, and I just use that. The brush stands up straight in the charger and takes up much less room on my tiny countertop. -
Question: I just replaced my brush head as it was out of sessions- how do I add a new brush head to register to the app?
Answer: Put it on the charging stand. -
Question: How do you identify the brush heads for their specific purpose such as gum cleaning vs whitening?
Answer: I don’t see the point in changing brush heads for different jobs. I use regular bristled attachment and it’s all good. I haven’t used the tongue brushes that came with it and don’t need to purchase more.
