      Answer: Yes these cups are thick and sturdy. I ordered them for my upcoming wedding and I'll think they will work just fine.

      Answer: Too large, I think. For wine you should choose a 7-9 oz. glass. The composition of the glasses is great for serving. 12 oz would be fine for mixed drinks.
