Answer: I never did find out the ratio but I switched to: Real Herbs Ginger Root Extract - Derived from 3500mg of Ginger Root with 5:1 Extract Strength. It is more expensive but seems to work much better. -

Question: what does the "4:1" actually mean? ...suggests 4 times more concentrated than default ginger...or...?
Answer: IT may be a concentrated 4:1 is equivalent to 4. For example, a tablet quoted as using a 10:1 extract, means that 10 kg of raw herbs were extracted down to 1 kg of dried powdered extract
