Question: I can see how 2 of the magnifications options are possible, but how is the 3rd?
Answer: If you flip the magnifier and try to view an object through the small magnifier as suggested by Rick then you will have to try to use it without any light. Flipping the glass with the light on will blind you. I don't see anything through the small magnifying glass without the light so in essence there is only 2 usable magnifications offered by this product. -
Question: what kind of battery
Answer: It takes three AAA batteries, not included. My first one is getting a lot of use but the batteries are still strong after several months. -

Question: Different lenses for different powers?
Answer: 2 lenses on mine the main lens big one works ok but I have to have the LEDs shining in my face to use it because they put the lenses in backwards and it can't be taken apart to correct the issue. The smaller lens is the 45x it's about the size of a pickle again works well if I use it backwards as they installed both lenses backwards. Might be a waste of $10 for you if you get a backwards one like me. -

Question: is it 3x and 10x, or 3x and 45x? what good is 45x? also, which lens is which magnification?
Answer: Wow, I purchased this without realizing the seller claimed 3 levels of magnification. I'm guessing it is the lower two: 3x and 10x. The large lens is the 3x. It takes quite a bit of steady alignment to get an object under the 10x glass, but it's doable. In spite of the apparently misleading claim (of three magnification levels), this is a nice tool.
