Answer: I think what they are saying is that there is maximum absorbency for a moderate amount of fluid. In other words, all the fluid is taken into the pad with a moderate amount produced. My DH uses these inside a very absorbent pull-up for night time security. It seems to work out well, as we have not had any more accidents, where the whole bed needs a change!
