Answer: Not sure but Vitamin C products work on melasma. This product I purchased for my hair and as a scalp treatment. Melasma is caused by too much sun or excessive estrogen in body. use sunscreen and wear a hat if you have hyper pigmentation. IT makeup has 50 SPF I wear it because I live in Denver CO and we are a mile high and closer to the sun. Hope this help -
