Question: Will this be enough magnification to light a fire in an emergency?
Answer: It appeared as the item description but the magnification is bad. It makes objects fuzzy. I wouldn’t purchase another without seeing it first and ability to try it -
Question: Can I cook ants with this?
Answer: You probably could but you won't be able to regulate the cooking temp so if you want them rare, forgedaboutit. Your choice is alive and kicking or burnt to a crisp. (But please don't cook any ants!) -
Question: Do you think this would be appropiate for a 4 (almost 5) year old boy?
Answer: This is really a nice and very sturdy magnifying glass and it should last a long time, if not forever. I would caution, however, that while a five year old could certainly use it effectivlly, it would be pretty heavy for any extended use. -
Question: What is the brand name of this magnifier. does it have a brand name listed on the handle?
Answer: No brand on the handle or anywhere on the magnifier. I would use the magnifying glass to look closer, but...ha. It's a well-made product, perfect for what I need it for, viewing architectural plans with very small text. -
Question: Will I be able to see mites on my furr babies with this? Can't see with the naked eye
Answer: I use my Magnifier for reading. Not able to answer your question concerning your pet’s fur. Magnifier is very helpful while reading. -
Question: Is the power 10x, 5x or 3x? All three of these are being mentioned in title, description and reviews.
Answer: Technically a 10X magnifier has a focal length of about 1", impossible for a 4" diameter lens. Focus the sun to a minimum size dot on a non burnable surface and measure the distance from the lens to the surface. 2x power will be the lens 5" from the surface, 3x about 3.3" and 5x only 2". 10x would have the lens only about 1" away. -
Question: How long is the handle and what is the diameter of the lens?
Answer: The handle is about 4" long, about 1" think at the widest portion. The lens is 4.25" across. Total length of the magnifying glass is 8.5". It doesn't fold in any way. Hope that helps. -
