Question: What size gait belt should i buy

Question: Would this work for a paralyzed patient? I am currently lifting her from the wheelchair to the toilet but it is really straining my back.
Answer: No. You should use a Hoyer-Lift with someone who is paralyzed, for your safety and theirs. I would never use a gait belt for this use unless you’re extremely strong and can get behind the person for lifting. This isn’t easy when getting the person out of a chair or off of the toilet, you have to stand on the side and can only use one hand for lifting in these instances. There may be other methods that I’m not familiar with. Worth looking into or asking the patients physician. -
Question: How many inches extra should the belt be in addition to waist size?
Answer: It’s really a matter of taste since the belt has a device that bites into the material. Once you fasten it, it’s not coming loose until you want it to. But as a general guide line, I would suggest three inches past the connection point. -
Question: Does this belt have the metal teeth?
Answer: Yes, it has metal teeth. It is a nice heavy belt but the buckle is almost too narrow for the strap and must be worked in. -
Question: Does it have an extra loop on the back?
Answer: No it does not have an extra loop....though you could make one with one extra loop buckle. -
Question: Can I change my order to the rainbow gait belt?

Question: Is this gait belt a D-ring belt?
Answer: No. The buckle is rectangular with a bar in the middle to adjust the gait belt to the person wearing it. It’s super easy to put on & really has helped my mom. -
Question: Is this cotton or that shiny material? I've had the shiny and the teeth don't grip properly and it loosens..
Answer: It is a cotton belt with a flat black color. We used it as a motility belt in place of an ulgy multi colored belt. Easy to use.
