    • Question: How is this model (dmt-511) different from the dmt-489? is the 511 newer?

      Answer: DMT-511 has a mute function and it's a newer than DMT-489. Howeer, the DMT-489 is top selling as it has been in the market for several years.
    • Question: Can it switch from Fahrenheit to celcius?

      Answer: Yes, you can open the battery cover, use the toggle switch to change F to C.
    • Question: is this touch free? Infrared?

      Answer: It is not touch free.
    • Question: Does anyone know how to change from mute to unmute? Need to hear the sound.

      Answer: The bottom button changes it
    • Question: All this blah, blah, blah, but you don't even say the the precision? +/- 0.1F? or what?

      Answer: Hi Dr. E, The accuracy of the ear and forehead mode is ±0.2 C or ±0.4 F. For object mode, it is ±1.0 C or ±1.8 F.

      Answer: Hi there, Yes, this unit can save up to 35 readings. Once the memory is full, it will automatically delete the oldest data. Thanks.
    • Question: what covers work with this?

      Answer: It came with a cover; I'm not sure of a separate cover. The one I ordered also came with a drawstring bag for storage.
    • Question: I did not receive the ear tube to get the ear temperature. is it suppose to be included?

      Answer: The part you scan across your forehead detaches and the ear piece is underneath.
    • Question: Does it come with ear overs? Or is that sold separate?

      Answer: When you want to take ear temperature, just take off the probe cover of this product to measure. It doesn't need disposable covers.

    Decent Thermometer
    Overall, the thermometer works well and provides accurate readings. However, the fever alarm could be louder, as it's sometimes difficult to hear.
