Answer: Gen 1.0 advertises an effective area of 10ft. This one says it's effective up to 15ft. So I'd guess it might be operating at a higher temp to diffuse more of the repellent. I notice they applied to the feds a new version in June 2020 that supports wireless recharging & empty cartridge... -
Question: Can the Gen2 be used around food? If not, how far away should it be from eating area?

Answer: When used as directed, Thermacell will not harm household pets or wildlife. -
Question: Rec'd Thermocell 7/2/19,was very effective,now have charged 2x,white light flashes,won't stay on or operate,any suggestions?
Answer: I had the same issue. Their manual and troubleshooting is poorly written and gives no indications on what to do. I suggest you try to ask for a replacement. -
Question: What are the consequences of using this product indoors at night? Is there an alternative product from Thernacell for indoor use?
Answer: There are no components listed on the repellent, there are other ways to fight mosquitoes indoors. Look for battery operated Zappers. they work fine with no chemicals. -
Question: Someone said no open food should be "in the zone." Does that mean having a drink of wine, or a beer, "in the zone" would not be recommended either?
Answer: I am guessing that that is the case. When we found out that the chemical was neurotoxic to dogs we did not explore further. We returned it. -
Question: Is there a way to tell whether the shut-off timer is activated?
Answer: There is a light pulse of the light around the on/off button when in auto-off mode. -
Question: how big of an area will this protect ?
Answer: I use it in a 10x10 area and it protects that area well. I wouldn't expect coverage past 15 feet. -
Question: We just unboxed our Thermacell unit, and after 10 hours the light is still blinking. Are we supposed to charge it with the refill? Not sure what to do
Answer: The light blinks if the setup is not correct OR the battery is low. If you already charged it, just put in the cartridge and close the top over it so it clicks. At that point it should be okay when you turn it on - but notice that charging it takes a few hours; this is one of its weakness, the battery charges very slow and doesn't hold that long. I ended up connecting it to to the charge cable outdoors, because I could. I should also say it worked very well, but we sat really close to it in a very small urban backyard.
