Question: Is this made from the fruiting bodies only or is this basically mycelium & growing medium?
Answer: I went on their website and contacted customer service and ask them which are mycelium and which are fruiting bodies this was their response: "Chaga and Reishi use mushroom body fruiting. All other use mycelium. Sincerely, MOI" So... Mostly mycelium... -
Question: What's the proportion of each mushroom in your blend? Thanks!
Answer: Just do the simple math. Competitive (now apparently out of business just last week), 10 Treasures from Wixar had 2200 mg in a one level teaspoon serving for 220mg of each type. This Mega one...fun with numbers. Less than half - 100 mg of each in a serving size of 1000mg which equals 0.20 (less than 1/4) teaspoon. There is no RDA, so apples to apples, if you use 1 teaspoon of Mega per day, then you get just 49.6 days (servings) not "248". And any Country-of-Origin manufacturer can apply for a USDA Certified label. Just go to the USDA database online. This is probably from China, as is Wixar...just from the weird naming convention used by the Chinese. With Wixar, it's unlikely they are growing mushrooms in Sheridan, Wyoming...especially in -40F in Winter. -
Question: Are you sure there is no chocolate in this? The dry powder tastes like unsweetened cocoa powder to me.
Answer: I think it tastes like a very, very rich boullion cube and bitter too! I smell the cocoa scent, but it does not taste like cocoa at all. I can barely get down the 1 teeny scoop in my coffee daily and that is with a pretty large dose of cream to drown out the taste. I think I would like it much better if I somehow got the taste of cocoa vs. the taste it has. -
Question: Would this product be a good source of vitamin D?
Answer: Actually, no, not unless these mushrooms have been exposed to sunlight for a short time prior to the extraction/powdering. Same as humans, they require UV light to produce Vitamin D. -
Question: how much selenium is in one serving?
Answer: Contact the company directly. They are good about answering questions. There is no way for a customer to know such details. -
Question: Who is certifying your product as Kosher? There is no symbol (hechsher) anywhere on the packaging
Answer: This company makes unsubstantiated claims. There is no certification of Kosher on the label. I am high suspect of the USDA organic label. They are not registered anywhere as such. Some of the other products have shady Proprietary blends. They seem to be new kids on the block and make unfounded claim -
Question: Is it made in USA?
Answer: It does not say but it is USDA certified organic. -
Question: What is the percentage of substrate in the package?
Answer: It only lists different mushrooms as the ingredients with "0" of anything else.
