Plasticless 100% Compostable Wrapped Flexible Drinking Straws - A fantastic alternative to plastic straws. They are made of materials such as modified corn starch and PLA. They meet ASTM 6400 ,EN13432 environmental standards and passed Biodegradable Products Institute(CERT# 10529115) and OK COMPOST certification. The maximum heat-resisting temperature of this plant-based straw is 165 °F. Composting is the process of breaking down organic waste by microbial digestion to create compost. Our straws meet all the requirements in the European Norm EN 13432 and/or the US Standard ASTM D6400. Both specifications require that biodegradable/compostable products completely decompose in a composting setting in a specific time frame, leaving no harmful residues behind.The proper composting environment is warm, humid, and rich in nutrients and microorganisms, so putting the straw into water or just burying it in the soil cannot quickly complete the entire degradation process. But even in a dry room, they will begin to degrade within 12 months. Please use them as soon as they arrive. |

Question: How long does this straw take to biodegrade after I use it and throw it in trash?
Answer: Hi,there. The cycle of straw degradation is related to the environment in which it is located. A warm, humid, bacterial environment will cause it to degrade faster. But even in a dry room, they begin to degrade within 12 months. So we recommend that you use them as soon as possible. -

Question: Can these straws be used in hot liquids?
Answer: I’ve never used them with hot liquids but they feel exactly like the plastic ones they replaced. My guess is they will hold up as well as plastic ones in hot liquid. -
Question: are these made in USA or China?
Answer: I think in China. -
Question: Are these gluten free?
Answer: Yes it says they are. I have a gluten allergy myself and haven't had any problem -
Question: Do you need to wait for these to decompose before throwing them away? Otherwise aren't they still bad for the turtles?
Answer: I did some research before purchasing. Yes, it takes 6mos. for the plant based straw to decompose, so technically you can wait. I did not find any information about the effects on the turtles vs plant based straws. But I can follow their logic, it’s better than the alternative - plastic. -
Question: Is the wrapping also compostable?
Answer: The wrapping is paper so I would presume so. -
Question: How long does a straw take to decompose?
Answer: I use mine all day and dispose of it in my recyclable bin. Never waited for it to decompose.
