BETADINE gargle & mouth wash is a refreshingly mouthwash that does not stain the teeth despite its powerful germicidal action and provides soothing relief of dryness or minor irritation of the mouth and throat. As a mouth wash, it reduces or eliminated offensive mouth odour. Kills germs Stops mouth odour Soothes sore throats Directions Use full strength as a therapeutic gargle or a mouth wash. Question: is this the same as povidone?
Answer: I have this product box in front of me. Look under Drug Facts, Active Ingredient, it reads "Povidone Iodine, 0.5%" -
Question: Will this work for a sore throat so I’m not purchasing both boxes? Ty
Answer: I consume, i.e. swallow daily supplemental Iodine, that's Iodine meant for internal use, as research has found many to be Iodine deficient. But NEVER swallow Iodine meant for external use. So I keep a bottle of "Betadine Gargle mouth wash" (0.5%) standing by for convenience. But it is much less expensive and easy to make your own. If you buy 10% Povidone Iodine (PI), mix 1 part of this to 19 parts H20 (filtered, normal saline (0.9%), distilled, or sterile) = 0.5% concentration. .5% to 1%, sometimes higher, has been commonly used to kill viruses, S. Korea used 2%. If you want 1%, mix 1 part 10% PI to 9 parts H20. Per Dr. David Derry wrote, "Iodine, the Universal Pathogen Killer. Though iodine kills most pathogens on the skin within 90 seconds, its use as an antibiotic/antiviral/antifungal has been completely ignored by modern medicine. Dr. David Derry goes on to write, "As early as June 1, 1905 an article was printed in the New York Times about the successful use of iodine for consumption/tuberculosis.
