      Answer: I purchase the bars for my grandson and according to him they can never go bad.

      Answer: My guess is that these bars are made to replenish your system after long workouts. They include various vitamins, minerals(including salt) and protein. I would assume these bars are intended for athletes and bodybuilders vs standard meal replacement bars. Good luck!
