Plasticless 100% Compostable Colorful Drinking Straws, A Fantastic Non-plastic Straws. They are made of materials such as modified corn starch and PLA. The maximum heat-resisting temperature of this plant-based straw is 150 °F. Composting is the process of breaking down organic waste by microbial digestion to create compost. Our straws meet all the requirements in the European Norm EN 13432 and/or the US Standard ASTM D6400. Both specifications require that biodegradable/compostable products completely decompose in a composting setting in a specific time frame, leaving no harmful residues behind.The proper composting environment is warm, humid, and rich in nutrients and microorganisms, so putting the straw into water or just burying it in the soil can’t quickly complete the entire degradation process. But even in a dry room, they will begin to degrade within 12 months. Please use them as soon as they arrive. |

Question: okay to use these straws with warm beverages?
Answer: Yes-I think they would be ok to use with warm beverages but not hot. The thickness of these straws seems similar to average plastic straws. -
Question: Are these straws gluten free?
Answer: I believe these straws would be considered gluten free, since they are made from corn starch and polylactic acid. Corn starch is gluten free. -
Question: What is the country of origin?
Answer: China which I was very disappointed in. I thought they were from the USA. But found out PRCStands for People’s Repuplic of China. -
Question: If I am not composting used straws, are they able to go into the recycle bin or should I put them in the trash bin?
Answer: Where I live our trash/recycling service is very limited to what it accepts. My friend has opted to pay extra for a service (I’m unsure of what it’s called) that she is able to send out her straws and they get recycled. I would suggest contacting your trash/recycling company and asking them if they accept straws in their recycling pick up. -
