      Answer: Xylitol is a sugar alcohol. Those are different than artificial sweeteners like aspartame, saccharin, ace-k, or sucralose. The medical review "Sugar Alcohol Sweeteners as Alternatives to Sugar with Special Consideration of Xylitol" states "Clinical studies have shown that xylitol, a natural, physiologic sugar alcohol of the pentitol type, can be used as a safe and effective caries-limiting sweetener." So if they're going to sweeten a toothpaste; it would appear that xylitol is the way to go.
    • Question: Is the tube able to be recycled?

      Answer: thanks for asking! in terms of hello, our boxes are made with FSC Certified paper, and we print with soy-based inks. our caps are fully recyclable. our tubes are BPA-free, but we have to use tube materials that are not readily recyclable. we're always innovating, so definitely stay tuned!

    My teeth have never been so clean
    I discovered coconut oil for oral hygeine awhile back and this toothpaste works great for getting the plaque off of the teeth. My teeth feel so clean. The charcoal does a number on the white sink but I think it's picking up all of the germs and ick in the mouth too. I feel like my mouth and teeth have never been cleaner, even after a dental cleaning.

    Makes you clean your sink regularly!
    This toothpaste not only whitens teeth and freshens breath, it also causes one's bathroom sink to become whiter and fresher due to the fact this toothpaste leaves black flecks of dried toothpaste foam all over the sink, which forces one to have to clean the sink twice or thrice a day (depending on how many times someone is brushing their teeth and how many people in the household are using this toothpaste). Before acquiring this toothpaste, I was blissfully unaware of how much toothpaste gets spattered on the sink when brushing the teeth. I will not be reordering this toothpaste after we have used up all three tubes. Just 2 and 1/2 tubes left to go...

    The flavor is much better than the strong mint ones BUT:
    Your mouth gets black, your toothbrush gets black and the clean up a problem. I use the other HELLO products but the mint is too strong for me. I still use the black one when I want a relief from the strong mint.
