Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question: Can these be cleaned and reused?
Answer: You can clean them , however , it's a little bit of work . A new one is much easier . -
Question: What is the purpose of the balls?
Answer: These “balls” as he called them, are to be placed in the bottom of the bowl, they allow the air to flow a little better, reduce the resin buildup, reduce the moisture that gets sucked into the stem and your mouth, and generally allow the pipe to smoke cleaner, cooler, and more pleasantly. I don’t smoke any pipe without them. From meerschaum, To Clay, to Burl, they all smoke better. -
Question: How many uses per screen?
Answer: 3 max 4 -
Question: How do you get these things out when it's time to change them, especially since they fit so damn tight?
Answer: Using needle nose plyers or pry it out with a wood skewer. A bamboo wood skewer will break before a wooden tobacco pipe. -
Question: Wgat size screen ball does scottie pipes take?
Answer: I've only seen one size ball screens. The are often too big. I take a pliers and squeeze the ball and elongate it until it will fit. I love them and use flat screens for smaller pipes. The stainless steel holds up much better than the lightweight brass screens. -
Question: What is the diameter in mm? Would it be too large/small for a 19mm opening?
Answer: In case I wasn't clear in my comment. These basket like filters sit at the bottom of the bowl of a pipe. And, they certainly will pass through the top of a bowl with a 19mm opening. -
Question: You still have not answered this question: What is the diameter ?
Answer: About 3/4 inch diameter. And stronger than brass screens.
