Answer: If you have a 12 hr refill, it will last 12 hrs. Once you turn off your device it will stop using the refill. Yes you can use again next time. It is important to remember to turn on and off your device.. When you turn off your device it stops using the refill. -
Question: How is this one different from the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Rechargeables?
Answer: The Gen 1 and Gen 2 is the Radius. The Radius has a lock mode, timer and provides 15 ft protection. The E55 has a 20 ft zone of protection, has an audible on/off and low battery sound. Each of these are equally effective, it depends what you are looking for, for features, and model design. -

Question: On off lights you should include photos of the lights and what they mean in the pamphlets that come with the device.
Answer: Thank you for your feedback. This is very helpful. Under the control panel section of the booklet it speaks to the repeller warming up to temperature and showing the 4 lights illuminated solid white. You suggestion would make it clearer for sure. Question: Does this product have a timer function like the radius 2.0
Answer: The E55 Rechargeable Repeller does not have a timer. -
Question: Can this product be safely used around food, for example a picnic?
Answer: Thermacell products are EPA reviewed for safety and effectiveness, and with that comes EPA required instructions and use restrictions on our package. Our package reflects the EPA required language that applies to almost all repellent products – ‘Cover or remove food’ during use. Please know that safety is our #1 priority and in over 20 years of use, we’ve never had an EPA reported health concern. -
Question: Mine did not have the a "refill" inside the box of either of the 2 i bought... is it supposed to havd one?
Answer: I believe this confusion is a result of misleading wording in the advertisement. The term refill implies that the purchase includes one initial fill and one refill. There is no cartridge in the unit you receive, so the one cartridge you receive is not a refill, it’s just a cartridge. While I don’t appreciate this deceptive wording, I will say that if you read the full description of the product, it says it comes with 12 hours of repellent. The cartridge you do receive is a 12 hour cartridge, so the truth is out there if you look closely. -
Question: The active ingredient is metofluthrin. why does the epa label as a pesticide and a neurotoxin? is that safe to brief in?
Answer: The EPA defines a pesticide as any substance intended for preventing, repelling or mitigating any pest. Thermacell products are intended to repel mosquitoes, which by most definitions are a pest. The EPA conducts a thorough review of product safety, environmental effects, and performance in the process of approving the use of the product to repel mosquitoes outdoors. The active ingredient in the product, metofluthrin, is rapidly dispersed in the air as it is released and effectively repels mosquitoes at very low concentrations. All mosquito repellent products should be used according to EPA-approved label directions. Thermacell products are safe to use around people, when used as directed.
